It's not true in terms of who is playing. We have a rip-off artist JQ and a for real injured Lowe out. That's an estimate 5 million or more right there. We also have a just recovering Kam and I don't know his cost. But, Florida didn't just beat the 22 million roster and I am tired of the press suggesting it otherwise.

There's zero need to bring back any Player on the team right now as a starter next year.. If he don't get 5 new starters it'll be another 10 loss season..
Pope is the one who paid for this roster and also doesn’t think he needs a GM. He’s fully to blame!
Also, you can’t blame JQ. You don’t pay a premium for an injured player. You get him at a deep discount and the offer to rehab here and hope he can play. He was a long shot to play in the first place.

If you paid for a player that is injured then that is a risk/chance you take that you have to own if it doesn’t work out. You can’t use it as an excuse (Pope)

People are dreaming of getting Stokes and Pate, but it wouldn’t shock me that not only does Stokes go elsewhere, but so does Pate.
Since we are Kentucky and it got reported early last summer, the whole $22M roster storyline has followed us all season. I’d be surprised if what we actually paid was much different from Arkansas or Michigan.

Nobody knows anything about what was spent, other than those in the know. I’m sure some are multi year deals, etc. People always take rumors and run with them and spin them however they want to.

Mark Pope has had ample opportunity to shoot it down if it wasn’t true but….crickets.

That is to say, discussions as to whether the roster was poorly constructed are perfectly valid, but analysts on TV talking about how we underperformed with a $22 million team is less valid. He team on the court didn’t get $22 million. It’s like bragging about beating the Bulls with Jordan out sick.
Discussing the cost of the roster isn't relevant when discussing the results on the court if said roster wasn’t available to play. The relevant discussion would be whether we got our money’s worth out of JQ and Lowe (obviously we didn’t) and whether Pope made poor choices as to where to spend his budget (clearly he did).
Yep! I called this BS way back in the preseason! I said it would be used against us all year! If we had a great season, the analysts would’ve said, “well they should, they have a 22 million roster.” If we didn’t they’d say just what they’ve been saying. A catch 22. No pun intended.
It will definitely be a double digits in the loss category. That is one thing he has been consistent in throughout is head coaching journey
I like the way you spin it but it still hurts to know Pope wasted so much money and brought in an inferior, non championship team. Argue how much he spent but the bottom line is his team will end the season with FOURTEEN losses. We deserve to be ripped by the press for letting the amount be made public. Next year keep it to yourself Pope. The rest of the coaches do.
