I think they're the best team in the country right now...BUT...we have missed WIDE OPEN 3 after wide open 3. The offense would be a lot easier if you make a few of those. They aren't heavily guarded. Many of the misses were literally H-O-R-S-E shots they just missed. Can't do that at this level. Just allows the bigs to keep the lane clogged.
They scouted us well and knew we can’t make them either way, guarded or not and their gameplan is working great.

I do not want their coach
I want their players
This. I know everyone is ragging on pope and he is responsible for assembling this team, but I don't care who you have as coach Florida is leaps and bounds better than us top to bottom talent wise. There is not another team in the country that can match the front court and now their back court is playing pretty good too.

Yeah but Miller has regressed pretty bad after his zona tenure. He hasn't done crap at Xavier or Texas since then.
Right I don’t want miller. But Pope > Miller? Pope is that bad, no way I’d take pope over miller. Texas would laugh at that trade. Pope isn’t close to Millers level. I don’t want either but people see to not understand how bad of a coach mark has been in his career.

Brandon Garrison is dumb. I know we aren’t supposed to say it, but seriously, he is on the wrong end of the intelligence bell curve and not just as it relates to basketball.
BG's BB IQ is terrible. I do wonder if BG has ADHD, because he has lack of focus and awareness which contributes to most of it.

We need to make 6+ 3s , 4 or less Turnovers, keep the 2nd half rebounding margin close and have 10 assists in the second half to win. Only 5 assists first half and out rebounded by 9. Can’t have a repeat of that.

Same one they had a week ago. Chandler gets no space and they rough him up. Play contain on everyone else. All eyes on help when OO and DA have it, except for who's defending CC. Play behind anyone we play back to basket in post. It's the blueprint on how to neutralize this offense. Chandler won't get looks until others knock some down. They aren't doing that, so Florida hasn't had to adjust.

Yup. I agree.

I'll keep saying it. Mitch wanted Pope for so he can be his Yes man even though he's retiring. He didn't want another alpha like Cal. Which shows he made a selfish decision.

Both of you are cracking me up. Who put FLs roster together last year and this season?

You guys don't want an early 40s coach that has already won a Natty title and has a decent chance to at least make the final four again this year? Lmao interesting logic.

We’re at least giving effort, but we’re going to have to get something out of perimeter players to actually win this one. Mo borderline miraculously made those two shots in the span of a minute, but the rest of the team is 0/10 from 3, and this isn’t a team you can beat by pounding it inside.

not to be means but damn MO just isn’t a very bright player. He tries. But he understands the game, where to be, how to play like the 11 year old I’m teaching right now. Florida IQ is off the charts better. Condon toys with those guys down there. It’s practice to them.
I'll agree as long as you're not talking about rebounding IQ. He has a great read on where the shot is going and hustles like hell to get it (he has to, he's not a Davis type player that can just out-athlete his way to a rebound). He's a strong, nack for getting tough rebounds, high energy hustle player, when those type players have a high iq they normally don't last until their Jr year in college.

Pope has no idea how to coach against Todd Golden.

The same mistakes, the same thing the last 2 games against Florida. Zero adjustments from the last 2 games.
Sadly, Pope could switch rosters with Florida and he would not have them anywhere as good. Pope’s bigs are soft on effort and just are fundamentally bad.

Moreno plays below the rim, hands down, one handed rebound attempts, never stops a drive and gives minimal effort to go get a rebound not right to him. Garrison‘s physicality is wanting to actually fight aggressiveness. Mo is the only one with any resemblance of a “big” with any physicality.

How many drives does Pope have to watch where guys don’t help to stop it, ball watch and despite not effectively helping lose their guy for wide open 3s?

Pope will never be elite. UK with Pope is going to be fighting for double byes in the SEC and a Sweet Sixteen ceiling type team year in and year out.

3 games against Bama last year and no change. Ditto for Florida this year.

@SandyBell'sFaxMachine @UKGrad24

I think Mo D just needs to be the glue guy. He should be a poor man's Dennis Rodman. He needs to live within 10-15 feet to under the basket. His role should get offensive rebounds, pass out or put backs. Then defensive rebounds. That should be his role. Which he kind of does, but he needs to lock in. Pope needs to not play him on the wing.

If coaches switch ... who wins ??
My guess is Gainesville is an attractive place to attend college. That is a plus. Obviously Golden can recruit.

How many games does Pope need against Florida this year to win one? If we play 10 times did we win one?
