If his dad can't see how gad Jasper is and how he kills the team whenever he's on the floor, than his dad is dumb. Simply put.
If that was my kid out there playing selfishly like JJ does, I would shut my mouth and hide.

His dad is probably why Jasper thinks it's his God given right to take a shot within 27 business seconds of being inserted into the game. That dumbass 3 at the end of the first half without running the offense that gave Mizzou a fast break 2 in transition to lessen is EXACTLY why he sits unless foul trouble. Kid is a black hole.

His Dad needs to shut up. His son is getting more playing time than he deserves. My God, these loud mouthed parents making asses out themselves are insufferable.

Johnson might end up a decent player If he improves a ton over the next 4 years. Right now, he’s a defensive liability, and a turnover waiting to happen. His ball handling is borderline embarrassing.

The kid has a high ceiling. I hope he stays and builds on his intro year. I think with a bit more muscle he could really do some good damage on the floor against opponents.

I am glad he gets some minutes. He will certainly know what he needs to prepare for and work on next year.

Great news if it leads to him transerring.

Between him, Lowe, and JQ, we can put their combined $5 to 6 million into better players. Mo D either gets paid the same, or he walks, too. Jelavic is likely gone as well.

Let 'em all go. Bring back Moreno, Chandler, Williams, Hawthorne, and Potter. Noah doesn't get a raise.

Jasper sure hasn't reached his full potential this year. I think his family has been a little spoiled over the decades and his father coaching him during his younger days sure didn't help JJ. I can remember when his grand daddy was coaching track at Harrodsburg and seeing a couple of little kids playing around at a meet (Derrick and Dennis...couldn't have been 3 or 4 yrs old). Anyway, Alvis (granddaddy) was always good to me on an opposing HS so I hope the legacy continues. But, it won't be this year.

Jelavic has improved a lot since he came. Losing this player would be another mistake on the part of Pope imo.

Problem is with Pope will it lead to better players or is it going to lead to him going out and getting similar players and him over paying once again.

He's a ******* turnover waiting to happen & almost every time he gets into the game something bad happens.
I thought he would develope at least a little, but he seemed to get more and more selfish throughout the season and as SEC teams scouted him, they realized they just needed to put some pressure in his face and he’ll crack. He is out there playing for himself and if that's how it's going to be, he just needs to go somewhere else.
It sucks, because this team needed another good guard after Lowe went out and he never seized the opportunity. His dad can go on with him too.

I wonder if daddy realizes that Lowe’s injury is the only reason his son gets any playing time at all?

So, if anything, he should feel lucky he’s on this team. An unexpected injury has given his son more playing time at UK than his play deserves. He’d never get off the bench at some other schools with the way he has played this season.

Jasper really has to work on his handles, he can score but his turnovers are on him (blame whomever you want).

I want him back, but I also do not want a turnover magnet.

I only slightly blame Pope for not forcing him to work on his handles more, he possibly could have and Jasper still is struggling.

I don't know how to copy and paste, Can someone go to the Men of KSR site and bring it over here ?
It is from his Dads X account.
I have to wonder if he will be back after seeing what he publicly posted.
Thoughts ?
Personally I want him to leave. He hasn’t changed his game any all season. Exact same player he was when the season began. He won’t play much for any top half power 4 team until he improves. Dad should wonder why he didn’t teach JJ fundamentals and basketball IQ instead of AAU ball and flashy step backs. Handles are weak, shot is slow, passing is average at best, defense is sub par.

His dad needs to face reality, he needs a ton of work to be at a level he apparently “thinks” he is already. Not hating because I’ve been rooting for JJ all year but he has a lot of work to be able to see the floor for significant minutes. I had high expectations for him but he hasn’t lived up to them or even remotely close. Natural talent only takes you so far, time to grind in the off season and learn to be a stronger ball handler and passer, things he should have been doing since he was 9-10 years old not at 19.

JJ has been criminally misused just like every other player on the roster. He’s received no coaching or direction.

He would be a solid contributor under any other coach in the country.

He will go somewhere else and get coaching.

Perry improved after getting some coaching. JJ will even more. Perry had great coaching before Pope.

This will be the second Ky kid Pope has run off. And maybe there’s a third?

But it’s all JMI’s fault.

He did shoot it with only 6 seconds left on shot clock. When we inbounded it with the long football pass to him 10 seconds was all that was left on the shot clock. Wasn’t time to run the off but I do agree that wasn’t the shot we needed. Drive it and kick it out or find the cutter.

How has Travis improved under Beard?
You say JJ has been misused, how.
Who's minutes should he be taking other than the back up pg?
Lowe getting hurt was actually a break for him from a playing time perspective and it also gave him a chance to show NBA scouts he had potential as a pg.
Like I said earlier, unless you attend practice or are wired into the team, you can't say it's solely a coaching issue.
Maybe JJ is hard headed and doesn't listen.

Look at that MASSIVE improvement by Travis Perry once he got 'real" coaching...

verses Jasper not getting any "real" coaching as has been stated...

Anytime you have family complaining on the Internet, that's the boiling over from the kid complaining in private.
Reading through all the posts and when I read yours, I had to respond.
Agree completely.

When I was coaching HS and Travel Ball, I would always try and get my parents involved and show them the difference between being involved and interference.
I would talk about why this is so important. I would tell parents I had their daughters for 2 hours a day while they had them for 22 hours a day. If all they hear is negative conversations during these 22 hours with their parents , like "coach is not playing the right kids", "coach doesn't know your potential", "coach is wrong", "don't listen to the coach", these kids will come to practice and hear me but will not listen to me.

Folks do not fully understand this is a cancer and one that I am sure the coaching staff is addressing.
He might as well said we got one foot out the door.

I’m all about letting young players play through mistakes. You have to show improvement throughout the course of the season if you’re being allowed to play through those mistakes. Malachi Marino is the perfect example of this. Malachi has made plenty of bonehead freshman mistakes but he is vastly improved throughout the season. Johnson has not showed one bit of improvement in his decision-making, ball handling and especially on the defensive side. He has a silky smooth shot, his step back is nasty and he’s got a really good floater game. His decision-making and lack of defense almost make him unplayable.

Some family member posted junk online about a buried freshman player who plays deep in the minus and somehow it’s news during SEC Tourney play. This is the biggest non-story or “who gives a darn” ever.

KSR just playing the Stephen A. Smith role and it somehow infiltrating our board.

Jasper is not ready to compete at this level, he needs to build up his body, and work on his defense, but he did see some minutes in the tournament so far so not sure what his dad is complaining about.

He is the worst player with hype I have ever seen.
Noah is a better defensive player, ball handler & rebounder than Jasper
but plays behind him. Seems Pope is afraid he will leave.
IMO he needs to leave

By rights the next parent that utters a phucking syllable good or bad ought to get the SAY WHAT AGAIN treatment and their kid forced to give back half their NIL. This program is not about them any more than our games are about Doug Shows.

Dad's frustrated. That's understandable. He believes in his kid. Might even feel like he's standing up for him.

Just wish these guys would keep their complaints off social media.
No doubt he's been asked to play out of position this year because our coach failed to secure a backup PG .

On the other hand he's been unplayable at times, selfish and has has committed some of the worst turnovers imaginable.

Think he was ranked #25 in his class and the difference between him and the top 15 is light years. He would be the ball boy for Acuff and Brown.

He can go whine elsewhere next year.

Jasper is a good player. It’s Popes fault for not coaching him out of his flaws. Pope has allowed him to take terrible shots and act like it’s NBA showtime every time he comes in the game. That is 100% poor coaching.
