Kara Lawson on Caitlin Clark

"I had conversations with every player over the last couple days. With Caitlin, she brings dynamic play to the offensive end.

She’s not just a dynamic scorer. She’s one of the most dynamic playmakers in the world.

She balanced playmaking and scoring really well tonight. She looked comfortable out there. I was proud of how she played in her debut."

Rules note on FIBA. if you miss a shot but are fouled, it does not count as a missed shot. That’s why Caitlin was 4-5 instead of a shameful 4-6. Also, if you pass to someone who shoots and misses and is fouled, but at least one free throw is made, you get an assist. That’s why I missed assist number 10 which came on free throws made.
I like the assist on made free throws rule but isn't the first rule you noted just a normal basketball thing? Counts as a shot only if you make it at all levels.

Apparently, I've lived 51 years and somehow did not realize that if you miss a shot and are fouled in the process, it does not count as a shot attempt or missed shot on the stat sheet.

Healthy core strength and legs. This W season could be a 20+ point and 10 assist season with 5-6 rebounds and a championship kind of year.
To me she looks like old Caitlin, meaning a little lankier and a little less thickness in the legs. Looks to be in perfect fighting shape. Agree that if there is a W season, she could very well average a double double.

I don't know that I want Caitlin to start on this team. It's more fun to watch when she's playing with the rest of the young players who can keep up with her pace
It is my understanding they will be shaking up the rotations and starters each game. They might start one with the youth movement. The lineup I would most like to see is Caitlin, Young, Howard/Paige, Kiki, and Billings.

That lineup was not good. In 4.5 minutes they ran one cohesive play that resulted in an easy bucket. Otherwise a lot of hero ball. Angel ball hogging it several times is just straight dumb. CC forced a bad 3. Bad spacing on a few possessions. And the ball wasn’t moving enough on offense. CC gives the ball up and may as well get back on defense as her teammates aren’t giving it back to her.
