One week after President Trump announced that the US would cover insurance for ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, and would provide them with US navy escorts, Reuters reports that the US Navy has refused near-daily requests from the shipping industry for military escorts through the Strait of Hormuz since the start of the war on Iran, saying the risk of attacks is too high for now.

The U.S. Navy has held regular briefings with shipping and oil industry counterparts and has said during those briefings it is unable to provide escorts for the time being, three unnamed shipping industry sources told Reuters. They added that the shipping industry has been making requests almost daily during the calls for naval escorts through the strait.

The ‌Navy’s assessments spell continued disruption to Middle East oil exports and reflect a stark divergence from President Donald Trump’s statements that the U.S. is prepared to provide naval escorts whenever needed to restart regular shipments along the key waterway.

Shipping along the narrow strait has all but halted since the start of the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran more than a week ago, preventing exports of around a fifth of the world’s oil supply and sending global oil prices surging to highs not seen since 2022. Some ships – mostly Iranian VLCCs and Chinese tankers carrying embargoed products – have resumed transits with Iran vowing it would only attack western-linked ships.

Your reply has ZERO to do with my post.....pay attention !!!!!

I asked where you got the article? Second Trump just tapped the the oil reserves until it is safe to open the shipping lanes in the region. Something the Commander in theater will know when it's time. So instead of stirring **** maybe you need to pay better attention. It is pretty basic tactical **** and common sense.

BREAKING: Iran is "pretty much at the END OF THE LINE," President Trump confirms "Doesn't mean we're going to end it immediately, but they've got no Navy. They've got no Air Force." "They have no systems of control. We're just riding free range over that country!" "And now we're going to look very strongly at the straits. The straits are in great shape. We've knocked out all of their boats."

JUST IN: President Trump says he has the capability to make it nearly IMPOSSIBLE for Iran to rebuild... ...and all of that can be done by the US military within *one hour* "It's just a question of when. When do we stop?" "The main thing is we have to win this thing, win it quickly, but win it!" "And there are many people, I'm just watching some of the news, most people say it's already been WON." "We don't want to let it re-grow. And ideally, we'd like to see somebody in there that knows what they're doing." "In other words, they can build a country." "Now, one other thing, we can hit sections of Tehran and other places that if you do it, it'll be almost impossible for them to rebuild their country. And we don't want that." "But we can hit electric. We could take apart their electric capacity within one hour. And it would take them 25 years to rebuild it. So ideally, we're not going to be doing that. Thank you very much."

The first priority for the Navy and all the services is to degrade Iran. Whether we wait one or two more weeks doesn't matter as far as excorting.

Great that we knocked out all their boats....Now we should knock out their drones.

Maybe we should attack the people that are STILL attacking ships AND ships are still being attacked by drones launched by Iran

Then why are they still firing on shipping and neighboring countries ?
We seem incapable of stopping drones and the fact is that the drone attacks are increasing..
Heads should roll....inexcusable that we cannot stop their drones.

They will stop them eventually. This isn't a video game. We will adapt and continue to adapt for the future. They will continue to get destroyed. More importantly it's a good thing Trump decided to drill more here. It's almost like the Democrats wanted us depending on everyone else.

I totally support EVERYTHING President Trump is doing. My beef is with the war planners....they totally missed on the Iranian missile and drone capability.

They didn't miss goofball. They are destroying the **** before it grew beyond control. In the meantime they are developing new systems for the future to deal with China and Russia. The military has a entire organization dedicated to lessons learned. They are getting real time and valuable information right now that they can use to deal with bigger threats that are definitely coming down the road.

Every Branch of the military has this. The information they are gathering right now will advance capabilities rapidly.

The Navy Lessons Learned Program (NLLP), governed by OPNAVINST 3500.37E, is a structured, five-phase process (discovery, validation, resolution, evaluation, dissemination) designed to improve operational readiness, safety, and effectiveness across the fleet. It aligns with the "Get Real, Get Better" mindset, focusing on self-assessment and continuous improvement by capturing, analyzing, and sharing insights from operations and exercises.
secnav.navy.mil +3
Key Aspects of the NLLP:
  • Purpose: The Navy Warfare Development Command (NWDC) manages the program, which focuses on enhancing doctrine, training, and operational performance.
  • Process: The five phases are Discovery (collecting data), Validation (verifying the lesson), Resolution (finding a solution), Evaluation (measuring the solution's impact), and Dissemination (sharing the lesson).
  • System (NLLIS): The Navy Lessons Learned Information System (NLLIS) is the primary database for storing and accessing these reports, which include after-action reports and observations.
  • Scope: It includes both shore commands and fleet-level operations, and it integrates with joint-level lessons learned to improve overall warfighting capability.
  • Accessibility: Lessons are available through a CAC-enabled, user-friendly interface, ensuring that sailors and personnel can learn from past experiences.

Sorry...but they DID miss on their pre-war planning....That is WHY we are now scrambling to find a solution.

Finally....something we can agree on.

Nothing is going to go perfectly. In the big picture it's gone better than planned. China and Russia definitely just got a wake up call on their equipments capabilities. Coming out a cave to launch drones isn't going to last very long.

REPORTER: We aren't escorting ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Why?! How did you not plan for this?! SECWAR PETE HEGSETH: "We PLANNED for it. We recognize it. Because ultimately we want to do it sequentially in a way that makes the most sense for what we want to achieve and ensure that we're sending the right signals to the world when we do so." "It's like this whole idea of the war 'widening.' That's what the press wants to make it look like, like it's widening, and chaos." "No, we're actually closing in on grabbing hold of and controlling what objectives we want to achieve and how we want to achieve them." "It's called shaping operations and setting the conditions." "Foolish political leaders and foolish military leaders of the past will hang an exact deadline on it, or here's exactly when we'll do what we're gonna do, or here's how long it's gonna take us." "And then if you meet that, maybe you meet it. But if you don't, you fail, and if you're far beyond." "The interagency the Strait of Hormuz is something we've paid attention to from the beginning and the American people can rest assured we will ensure that our interests are advanced."

BREAKING: SecWar Pete Hegseth reveals today is a +20% SURGE in US military strikes on Iran, the most ever in the war, thanks to an intelligence feedback loop "Our intelligence just gets better and better. That feedback loop feeds itself." "And as we refine those targets, it exponentially increases what we can hit and why, to include strategic things the world's talking about and looking at." "I's our job to have a plan for it, which we do, to address it, and ensure that the president has options. We've done that from the beginning in this department. And he'll have options on that topic as well, right here."

It's been 13 days dude. Do you want to drop a couple of nukes and call it the day? or maybe give it a another week or two and see how's it going then?

As of early 2026, Iran is ranked 16th out of 145 countries in the Global Firepower (GFP) index, placing it among the world's top 20 military powers. With a PowerIndex score of 0.3199, Iran's strength is driven by a large, active military of over 600,000 personnel and a significant, though aging, arsenal of tanks, missiles, and drones.
Key Aspects of Iran's Military (2026):
  • Ranking:
16th globally, often ranked 3rd in the Middle East, behind Turkey and others in some assessments.
    • Personnel: Approximately 610,000 active-duty personnel, with 350,000+ in reserve.
    • Key Capabilities: Focuses on asymmetric warfare, boasting a vast, indigenously produced arsenal of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs/drones).
    • Structure: The Armed Forces comprise the regular army (Artesh) and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the latter focusing on external influence and security.
    • Naval/Air Power: Operates a large, unconventional naval force of speedboats and submarines in the Persian Gulf, but has a comparatively weak conventional air force, utilizing older models.
Iran's strategy relies on a combination of conventional forces and, through the IRGC, regional proxy groups to project power beyond its borders.

We are totally destroying the terrorist regime of Iran, militarily, economically, and otherwise, yet, if you read the Failing New York Times, you would incorrectly think that we are not winning. Iran’s Navy is gone, their Air Force is no longer, missiles, drones and everything else are being decimated, and their leaders have been wiped from the face of the earth. We have unparalleled firepower, unlimited ammunition, and plenty of time - Watch what happens to these deranged scumbags today. They’ve been killing innocent people all over the world for 47 years, and now I, as the 47th President of the United States of America, am killing them. What a great honor it is to do so! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP
