Along with being candid with his guys, I would sure hope he would be more coherent than he appeared in that video. Sheesh
Funny you say that because almost everyone is dumber after listening to Carl talk. The only ones who aren't are pretty much Penn State fans. That guy is clearly not the brains of the operation.

But @MSU158 I thought you are above citing your sources? 🙃
Depends on the situation and who for. When it comes to sifting through the cesspool to find something, I better like you a lot or have it truly be worth my while. The instance I am sure you are citing, neither remotely fit…

I really think it comes down to asst coaches. PSU wrestlers do drop matches however I don't think there are any better tacticians than Cody and Casey. When rematches occur, there is definitely a change in strategy. On Iowa's side you saw it with Caliendo and him keeping a couple of the matches to just decisions. That came with the expense of him taking way fewer shots and becoming much more defensive.
Cody and Casey must not care about their heavyweight.

That is the coaches job is to find those positions he may not be as strong in. MM is definitely an exception to every rule, but other than running laps they have to put Mikey in positions to slow him down. Giving him space to buzz saw is not a good option. To think MM has another year to improve is insane.

Beyond MM scenario, the philosophy to not game plan opponents is ridiculous. Taking down against a strong top rider is stupid depending on the score. Desanto not being able to overcome the 1 arm bandit still irks me. I realize it's not all on the coaches, but that's the job, optimize what they have.
You clearly don't watch the match is very often because I've seen Iowa guys choose neutral seems like at least one in every meet not more and some. It happened a few times this weekend so maybe watch matches instead of riding stupid thoughts.

There is a VAST difference between the sole intent being to speak publicly vs. HAVING to speak publicly about things you clearly don't want to say...
It seems Tom has digressed in this regard. There is a difference between not wanting to say something and being unable to speak coherently.

Sure keep believing that. Ove the Brands tenure, way too many times at B10 and nationals coaches are telling their guy down after they just been riding for the preceded period. It's not the frequency, its the critical decision making.
