I thought Hegseth and Trump said Iran did not have a Navy at this point. How are the Iranians laying mines? If we can blow up fast boats plying the wide open waters of the Caribbean with cocaine, surely we can blow up Iranian boats in the rather confined geography of the Strait of Hormuz. ??!!Iran mining the strait is a major escalation in the war
Why is it incorrect yoshi? That's just dumb and incorrect. Do you like saying stupid things?
The Iranians have hundreds if not thousands of fast small boats. While they can only put down a couple at a time, it will be very difficult for us to catch all or even many of them.I thought Hegseth and Trump said Iran did not have a Navy at this point. How are the Iranians laying mines? If we can blow up fast boats plying the wide open waters of the Caribbean with cocaine, surely we can blow up Iranian boats in the rather confined geography of the Strait of Hormuz. ??!!
And Iran mining the Straight of Hormuz would qualify as a "major escalation?" We've already bombed the crap out of them, killed their head of state, and killed most of their leaders. Short of launching a nuclear missile at us, I'm trying to think of anything that the Iranians could do that would constitute an escalation of this war.
Because we didn’t fund Iran. Obama secured peace with Iran and Trump ripped it up. Iran is going to get a nuclear weapon nowWhy is it incorrect yoshi?
You are 100% wrong. Obama sent billions in cash to Iran and its a stone cold fact. Wake up man.Because we didn’t fund Iran. Obama secured peace with Iran and Trump ripped it up. Iran is going to get a nuclear weapon now

What a load of nothing yoshi. My statement is correct. Obama sent them billions. You are just now quibbling over the source of the funds. And whose money was that ...
You can't help echoing lies. I honestly feel bad for you. How does it feel to see that all of us were right and Trump was Trump first, not America? How do you like all these new wars? How do you like high gas prices and collapsing stock prices? How do you like seeing he has no actual plans?
Here is the breakdown of the source and context of the funds:
The Original $400 Million: This money was part of a trust fund established by the Shah of Iran in the late 1970s to purchase U.S. military equipment. After the 1979 Iranian Revolution, the equipment was never delivered, and the U.S. froze these assets.
The $1.3 Billion Interest: This portion represented a negotiated settlement regarding the interest owed on the principal $400 million over 35 years of litigation at the Hague Tribunal.
The "Judgment Fund": Because this was a legally binding settlement, the money was paid out of the U.S. Treasury’s Judgment Fund. This is a permanent, indefinite fund managed by the Treasury that Congress previously approved for settling litigation against the U.S. government.
Why Cash? The U.S. paid in foreign cash (Euros, Swiss Francs) because strict sanctions still in place meant that direct electronic banking with Iran was illegal, and it was the only way to deliver the payment, according to the Obama administration.

Key Distinction:
This $1.7 billion transaction was separate from the estimated $100 billion to $150 billion in Iranian oil revenue assets that were released to Iran as part of the 2015 JCPOA nuclear deal. Those funds were already Iranian assets held in foreign banks, which were unfrozen when sanctions were lifted.

Yoshi...your TDS is alarming. Please go get a head exam bro. Trump is winning no matter how much fake news yall get. Then explain how Obama giving them their money, which cost the US nothing, in exchange for getting inspectors into the nuclear plants was bad?
Now explain how your Lord and Savior Trump wasn't lying when he said we had completely obliterated the nuclear capabilities of Iran just a few months ago, but now we had to attack the country to keep them from attacking us with nuclear weapons?
Explain how you are fine with another middle Eastern war, when you literally, multiple times stated you supported Trump because he wouldn't get us into a middle Eastern war.
Are you just cool with him lying to you?
No answers to his questions?Yoshi...your TDS is alarming. Please go get a head exam bro. Trump is winning no matter how much fake news yall get.
I answered already. Obama gave Iran billions.......period.No answers to his questions?
Amazing you would try to call someone out for TDS.I answered already. Obama gave Iran billions.......period.
There were also restrictions on how their money could be used. And whose money was that ...

the only problem with that, was simply that the deal ended after 10 years and then we'd be right back where we were.Cool, it was worth it to get nuclear peace
why would you believe that we have no plans for how to defeat Iran...and what does defeat Iran really mean? Just because the government hasn't told us their plan (why would they) doesn't mean they don't have one.We clearly have no plans for how to "defeat" Iran and effectively end the war, so I feel like there is a decent chance this ends with a Iranian strategic victory
The administration had a closed door meeting/briefing with congressional leaders and the unclassified info they were able to share after was "there is no real plan."why would you believe that we have no plans for how to defeat Iran...and what does defeat Iran really mean? More evidence that Trump and his supporters are lying sacks of ****.
Yeah, that's a puzzler because @scotchtiger is usually not disingenuous or wrong about everything. But @scotchtiger said it was definitely a rogue Iranian missile.
It will 100% end that way, if we're lucky. It's a bunch of drunken idiot pedophiles vs the oldest civilization on the planet. The U.S. will limp away from this diminished in every way imaginable. We clearly have no plans for how to "defeat" Iran and effectively end the war, so I feel like there is a decent chance this ends with a Iranian strategic victory
We literally blew up a school full of children.“.. An ongoing military investigation has determined that the United States is responsible for a deadly Tomahawk missile strike on an Iranian elementary school, according to U.S. officials and others familiar with the preliminary findings.”
No no no, Iran somehow stole a Tomahawk missile, which only 3 other non-US countries have, and fired it at their own school and/or they took the frozen bodies of school girls they killed in January out of storage and planted themWe literally blew up a school full of children.
@TigerGrowls says sh it like this unironically 5-7 times a day lolNo no no, Iran somehow stole a Tomahawk missile, which only 3 other non-US countries have, and fired it at their own school and/or they took the frozen bodies of school girls they killed in January out of storage and planted them
well, I'm not part of the current operational planning - obviously....But from experience I can say that every operation with the military I was involved in there was a paragraph specifically calling out "objective" so that everybody understood where we were going and the outcome desired. The administration had a closed door meeting/briefing with congressional leaders and the unclassified info they were able to share after was "there is no real plan."
-No plan to take out Iranian nuclear capabilities
-No plan for regime change
-If Iran rebuilds their missile and drone capacities we will just go back to bombing
-No plan to really open the SOH
We haven't defined what defeating Iran looks like. We have no strategic goal we are clearly working towards. Our goals keep changing and have included: picking Iran's leaders for them, destroying Iranian nuclear abilities, helping the Iranians overthrow the regime, making sure Iran can't project power in the region, and now revised down to stuff like "make sure they can't launch missiles and drones or make them".
Our bombing campaign here is making the same mistakes we made in Vietnam. We are measuring the efficiency of our strikes, not the effectiveness. "Oh we dropped X number of bombs, shot down Y number of drones and missilies, ran z number of strikes." Cool but that doesn't tell me we are progressing towards any strategic goals.
I think our strategic planning for this wasn't very good. There was a tail wagging the dog element with CENTCOM and overall planning.well, I'm not part of the current operational planning - obviously....But from experience I can say that every operation with the military I was involved in there was a paragraph specifically calling out "objective" so that everybody understood where we were going and the outcome desired.
Now, I'd be surprised if this time it's different. On the other hand, if we're referring to a person or party members'opinions, that I can understand.
Because he hates Trump.why would you believe that we have no plans for how to defeat Iran...and what does defeat Iran really mean? Just because the government hasn't told us their plan (why would they) doesn't mean they don't have one.
Might be a good time for you to move out of the country. It will 100% end that way, if we're lucky. It's a bunch of drunken idiot pedophiles vs the oldest civilization on the planet. The U.S. will limp away from this diminished in every way imaginable.
If I was Iranian and in charge over there, I would also be laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz. And doing so as assiduously as possible. The Iranians have hundreds if not thousands of fast small boats. While they can only put down a couple at a time, it will be very difficult for us to catch all or even many of them.
It’s an escalation because if they lay mines we have to send in minesweepers after a ceasefire. They’ve basically poisoned the straights
You are 100% wrong. Obama sent billions in cash to Iran and its a stone cold fact. Wake up man.
The term "billions" is a plural term. It necessarily indicates a multiple number of billions (i.e., at least $2 billion). We sent them a total of $1,7 billion, which is less than $2 billion. So you are wrong on the face of it, TG.What a load of nothing yoshi. My statement is correct. Obama sent them billions. You are just now quibbling over the source of the funds.
You'd be comign from deep off the bench and being advised on that decision by a random assortment of people. Probably making the decision harder/ slower. But it's probably the biggest, last card that they have to play at this point. 100% guaranteed to piss off everyone in one way or another. If was Iranian and in charge over there, i would also be laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz. And doing so as assiduously as possible.
The Iranians can't fight the U.S. in any conventional military sense. The imbalance of military strength is just too profound. What they can and should do is try to make the continuation of the U.S. bombing campaign as costly as possible for the U.S. and other countries, in the hopes that Trump will feel pressure to desist with the bombing. Mining the Strait of Hormuz and putting world oil markets in chaos is sound strategy from the Iranian perspective.
