I have enjoyed reading Rupp Rafters for several years now and hope you do not mind a *hopefully objective* post about how at least one Arkansas fan views UK.
I view lots of SEC message boards and I can tell you that NO ONE is more engaged than Kentucky fans. Your passion seems to be unequaled in the SEC. I am guessing that the long and fine tradition of the program merits that. Arkansas has a decent team this year but our game threads reach anywhere from seven to 10 pages. KY game threads run 40 to 50, that tells me something simply by itself.
I think the change was good for Cal. I look upon him as a good recruiter and question some of his abilities as an x's and o's coach. He was not my first choice when we had the vacancy and if he retired tomorrow, I would love to get the guy at Texas A & M.
I grew up when the Nolan Richardson-Rick Pitino rivalry was going strong. The two teams played some epic games in those years and I thought it was really good for college basketball and the SEC. Maybe it's not as important now with the rise of Florida, Auburn, and Alabama but I miss those days.
By the way, everything said around here about Duke is spot on. Most pampered team in the history of college basketball.
And thanks for letting a stranger sound off...
