I have enjoyed reading Rupp Rafters for several years now and hope you do not mind a *hopefully objective* post about how at least one Arkansas fan views UK.

I view lots of SEC message boards and I can tell you that NO ONE is more engaged than Kentucky fans. Your passion seems to be unequaled in the SEC. I am guessing that the long and fine tradition of the program merits that. Arkansas has a decent team this year but our game threads reach anywhere from seven to 10 pages. KY game threads run 40 to 50, that tells me something simply by itself.

I think the change was good for Cal. I look upon him as a good recruiter and question some of his abilities as an x's and o's coach. He was not my first choice when we had the vacancy and if he retired tomorrow, I would love to get the guy at Texas A & M.

I grew up when the Nolan Richardson-Rick Pitino rivalry was going strong. The two teams played some epic games in those years and I thought it was really good for college basketball and the SEC. Maybe it's not as important now with the rise of Florida, Auburn, and Alabama but I miss those days.

By the way, everything said around here about Duke is spot on. Most pampered team in the history of college basketball.

And thanks for letting a stranger sound off...

I still can’t believe this UK team won at Arkansas this year. I like Cal, but I’ll like him more when he leaves Arkansas. Doesn’t feel right a legendary UK coach stayed in conference.

You flat beat us. Your inside people played well. If we had some of them and our guards or if you had our guards, each of us would have a real chance at the FF.

I put $50 towards Arky reaching the final four at +1200, right after they won on the road without Acuff. Obviously a longshot but not a totally unreasonable premise, as they have elite guard play if nothing else. That'd be a nice $600 profit I could use to treat my family to a Michelin rated experience in my area.

The team makeup reminds me of the Brandon Knight FF team coached by the same guy. Elite guards, patchwork front court. Of course, that team was a game winning Knight jumper away from going to OT vs Princeton, and then another one vs OSU, but that's the tournament.

Arky played a high level game vs Texas Tech last year and was totally deserving of making an EE (as was TTU). Most of the board hates him (for good reason), but I am a firm believer that talent outwieghs coaching or anything else, and so as long as Cal gets talent, he will be dangerous.

I don't think we have the inside game nor play good enough defense to get much past the S16 but I I hope you win your money.
Can we trade straight up right now Brazille for Garrison? We'll throw in Noah & JJ for free 🤣🤣

Nice post. I like the Buckyball dude, too.
He coaches every minute of the game and his players play hard for him and each other.

Spot on about cal and his X’s and O’s. You at least are getting the rejuvenated version of Cal, the last 5 years he was at UK we got about 10-20% of what he is putting forth there. He was very much a roll the ball out there coach and played his one and done favorites regardless of success or failure.

I too miss those early to mid 90’s matchups with Arkansas. It was premium high level basketball on all accounts. The SECT championship game that went to OT (95 I think) was just a great great basketball game. But they were all really good for that small stretch.

Duke, don’t get me started. We had a small thread the other day regarding boozer and that he never fouls. I looked it up and 25 games out of 31, 2 fouls or fewer, for an interior player that easily averages 34minutes/game. Thats virtually impossible in today’s high contact game without officials being told to look the other way. Maybe the easy March madness money is to take the under on his total fouls as they certainly won’t jeopardize him not being on the floor the last 6 games of his career.

Arkansas doesn’t play good enough defense and has no inside game to get too the F4.

Buckyball is a gimmick.
I'd say none of the current Arkansas players would sign with him.
It's a midmajor style and he's lucky to make the tournament this year.

I loved the SEC tourney even more in those days. Arkansas fans are the only fanbase to ever rival UK at the SEC.

The SEC tournament is nothing if not a UK homecoming. Ark fans in the early 90’s crashed the party. Fun times. I made some friends from Arkansas then.

And we played some epic games. Great players on both teams. Played a similar style. Nolan and Pitino coaching their asses off like it was an NC game!!🏀

Loved it!!😍
