…all things considered, Kentucky proved they can play with the best of the best. Take away the dreadful start, you wouldn’t have been able to tell what team was unranked, and what team was a top five team.

I do think its encouraging that we played a close game against 1-seed both times now. Maybe kentucky can shock some teams on way to a S16? Id almost rather be a 10-seed and avoid the 1s in the 2nd round.

Then again, all winning does is just prolong Pope's tenure. Ive seen just about enough to know that hes just not the guy. Losing our next two games might be better for the program going forward, than going 4-2 the rest of the way.

We win Wednesday and we probably get a 6 and have to beat a 3 to get to sweet 16. A 7 is possible but unlikely. Lose Wednesday and that 8/9 comes into play depending on how other teams do.
That being said I have zero expectations but I do believe a sweet 16 run is possible with the right draw.

A sweet sixteen automatically puts another year on Pope’s contract/buyout. I’m as blue blooded a fan as the next RR poster and want us to go as far as possible but we may pay for it, literally. The Mitch Barnhart special…

I mean sure, the score was kinda close at the end but the game was not close at all lol. There’s no way you could watch that game and think we “played with” Florida. They are light years better and dominated us as soon as the ball was tipped. The desperation nonsense toward the end of the game is irrelevant.

Right now in the West as a 6 playing 11 seed Miami of Ohio and then Gonzaga the 3 seed

I didn’t get to watch the game yesterday. But I woke up and read the board. I’m not being a smart a ss but how did we show we can play with the best of the best?

all I’ve read was how we were never in the game. Got down 20 at one point? On senior night in Rupp arena.

that’s why I’m seriously asking. From what I read it seems to be the complete opposite.

What games were you watching? Florida toyed with UK both games and only a little flurry in the last 2 minutes made it respectable. Florida played with a consistent 12-18 point edge the entire game.

This is UK basketball in 2026. People are happy with keeping a game “close” even though it really wasn’t.

Damn, is a 6 really in play? I honestly havent looked.

What a change a year makes. Last year I was refreshing Bracket Matrix, trying to theorize why some places still had us as a 4-seed and what not. This year I honestly dont care, havent looked. You could tell me we are a bubble team or a 5-seed snd id take your word for it.

March Madness for me at this point, is just a reason to get out with the guys and slam some beers.

Florida could have pushed that back to a 17-20 point lead anytime they wanted

The OP is goofy as hell. We were never in the game in any way shape or form. It was glaringly obvious Florida is a much better team and they completely outplayed and embarrassed us in every facet of the game on senior night. There is genuinely zero positives you can possible take from that game.

Like I said I can’t really say a lot..but from reading on here it was another embarrassment.

Kev we didn’t hang with Florida. They went stall ball to conserve themselves and the win was over early. They got “put to sleep” at the end too. We in no way hung with Florida. That was just a blowout with stall ball at the end.

Come on Yall, I mean….seriously there are people who think we hung with Florida? Think about it this way, replace Mark with a hire like Jerome Tang, would you still be posting this kind of thing. What if it was Calipari doing this right now? Unranked 19-12, blowouts all year, no recruits coming, losing senior day (blown out all game) to Florida. Would you still think this way? I think we both know that answer is no. Program comes before a coach even if he’s a former player.

This is KENTUCKY let’s remind ourselves what we do here. We dominate, if not we’re still better than 19-12. There are no positives from the Mark Pope era. None. A sweet 16 without an SEC title is not a successful season at UK. After that? He’s been flat out embarrassing man.

you’re the only person I’ve seen or heard that took that perspective after this game. Florida is way more talented than we are. It was obvious. I mean idk what to even say about this thread you’ve started. I would expect this from a troll

What sucks is now we play on Wednesday and the first game. I doubt we will have our usual dominant crowd. We will have a respectable rep but morale is low and prices are high. And most will be at work.

All we had to do was not **** the bed against Auburn. Or Mizzou. Or UGA.

Ridiculous this is where we are at.

todays bracketology even after yesterday. 6 is most likely what we get looking at our SOS, Quad 1 wins and Net ranking. A win against LSU and it’s basically for sure unless we somehow went deep in SEC tournament which I don’t see happening.

A 6 seed for this team is an absolute blessing. This team is so lucky it got that St. John’s win, and for to face 2 Rick Barnes Tennessee teams. Whew, lose those and we’re out. And 2 of those were come from behind wins that, well, really shouldn’t have happened. Add in the Hail Mary miracle pass at LSU? This team is very lucky they’re in this tournament when all is said and done. Came closer than most realize to being an NIT team. We stole 3 / 4 wins that we wouldn’t pull off right now and a miracle win at the time.

Any team up 20 points is generally gonna have a lapse in defense. That’s the only reason we were able to get as close as ten. We were NEVER in the game and no shot at winning.

We had a dreadful start and then got it down to 1 . Then we still were down big most of the game .

we pretty much did erase the dreadful start and there still was never a point in the game that made anyone feel like we would win this game .

One positive is the season is almost over.
You do know the game is 40 minutes....right?? So why do people keep rationalizing that we win if you take out the segment we played bad. Hell we win every game if you could do that!!

Just trying to find something positive. Sorry.

Seems like most people aren’t happy unless they’re miserable.

We’re dangerous in late game because we have 3 guards who can spread you out and make big shots. We are undisciplined throughout the game, putting ourselves into holes that we are unlikely to pull out of against most good teams.
We can't afford long stretches of Jasper/BG/Jelavic in the game together. I turned the game on and saw those three on the floor together and knew we were doomed (BG and Jasper quickly had horrible turnovers that changed the game). I hope Kam comes back shortly and takes a good chunk of Jelavic's minutes. Really hope we see much less of Jasper and BG in the postseason too.
