Reidsville wins ... they did it with Dionte being half speed (and that's still fast)

And they did it without leading rebounder Ingram. 109-2 the last 4 years. Amazing.

Amazing win with Neal gutting it out. I knew this morning at breakfast when we were told he had not been in school yesterday due to sickness that this would be tough.

Cauthen with huge game. Broadway and Robinson came up big in the clutch.

Neal saved it all for a reverse layup. The entire team pulled it together under difficult circumstances. Forcing that long three was great. Hope the team can recuperate for next week.

It's bad, when you are at the game you can't watch the end over, and, when you are on NFHS you can't watch the end over. Guess we will have to wait until the tourney is over.

This was Reidsville's lowest scoring output of the season .. a 66-64 win over Walkertown on Feb. 10 was previous low. Definitely not full strength. Washington also had a starter go out with an injury early in the game.

Where are the Finals?
Lawrence Joel in W-S ... schedule hasn't been set yet.
The championship game schedule will be posted after all regional contests are completed.
16 state championship games -- first games are Wednesday.

Wake Forest. Missed you today. Enjoyed the game. It was a nail biter for sure.
Wanted to be there but just too far a drive for us old folks. You got to see a classic. The NFHS announcers had no clue that Dionte Neal had the flu and that Reidsville’s center was also not playing. They sounded like WHS alumni

I can’t imagine how tough it was for Dionte to gut it out. I think we beat them by at least 5 big Dionte is healthy. Washington is legit though

Ingram, leading rebounder, didn't make the trip. Coach Ross said Dionte was about 30%.
Huge effort needed by the Reidsville depth and those guys came through like champions.

One of the most impressive Rams win in years.

I knew it. Somebody told Rambbq that Dionte had the flu. I think one or 2 others were feeling it too. I posted a few weeks back that it looked like Reidsville and Washington were on a collision course. That #1 for Washington had a smooth stroke on the 3. He probably should have taken more shots.

I wonder when was the last time the two teams in the Championship won their Regional by 1 point. Also, it is interesting that in both meetings between Reidsville and Washington that a charging call, in the final minutes, would be so pivotal in the outcome.

Does Salisbury have a chance?

Yes, they always have athletes. They are also hungry to get revenge vs reidsville. I feel pretty good about this game, as I thought Rand and Washington were 1 and 2 all year

I’ve seen Salisbury play a couple times and they aren’t as good as the last couple years. But they have a good guard who can score and they will play solid defense. I think Reidsville will win by 10-15.

Reidsville has played Salisbury the last 5 years .... Salisbury won the first of those matchups.

There was a couple of times he was wide open for an open 3 but couldn’t seem to get the ball passed his way. He had already made one. But only playing time builds that type of trust.

Whether legal or not, questions abound. How does one school, in particular Reidsville, pick up two athletes the likes of Broadway and Cauthen in the middle of the school year, from towns in opposite directions and both over an hour away? Both young men happen to be football/basketball players? It's not logical or even remotely possible if left to chance. It seems one would have better odds of winning the lottery. Is someone turning a blind eye to things? We know there are plenty of smart people that know how to manipulate "the system." It happens everywhere these days but it does seem to happen more frequently for the Rams than for other schools.

Just an observation.

Some interesting notes about state championship games with Reidsville slant:
- Walkertown (3A) joins Reidsville (4A) as representatives from the Mid-State 3A/4A/5A Conference.
- Walkertown is 20-8 with three of the losses coming to Reidsville - 72-66 in January, 66-64 in early February and 80-77 in conference tournament.
- Walkertown and Reidsville both play Friday - Walkertown-Kinston at 5:00 and Reidsville-Salisbury at 7:30
- Northern Guilford's girls (26-4) have one of the top freshmen in the state, 6-foot Aliyah Settle. She played at Reidsville Middle School prior to moving over to Northern Guilford. She's averaging 16.1 points per game. Northern plays Fayetteville Terry Sanford for 6A Championship Thursday.

Just an observation.

1. Reidsville is a blue blood
2. Transfers are happening all over the state. Reagan just got Statesville Qb( Statesville is falling apart) West Stokes even just got 3 transfers.
3. It seems you guys have a problem if a smaller school gets a transfer, but could care less if bigger schools do. Hough has like 20 transfers.

In Broadway's case he was splitting reps and he is good enough to start, his family actually has roots in the triad. His grandfather was the long time A&T coach. In Cauthen case Statesville is obviously falling apart. All this isn't 100% accurate by me, but has some reasoning behind it.
