Over the next few weeks, keep your eyes on the Middle East

Well of course. If you want actual information with links to sources, its a great resource. It's up to the individual, like anywhere else, to decide what is relevant. If you want testimonials from academia who get info from bluesky, I guess you come here.
Some of the comments from a lot of us, or sources etc being shared, are similar to national sports media talking about Clemson. People may know what they see from the outside, try to read the tea leaves or parse through the information, but true Clemson insiders are going to think some of the opinions are laughable. Because we know more about the second stringers, or know that such and such coach was covered up by Venables, or whatever it is. Happens all the time. Doesn't mean the national guys are all idiots, they just don't have the inside view. Likewise, a lot of people I see posting are just sharing information they find interesting or that seems plausible. And of course there are people that are closer to the inside, whether in the military, or living in the middle east (think this one is you), that are going to think those things are laughable.

Difference is I think many sharing things that insiders may think is laughable would take it well if insiders just gave the depth that person is missing and explained their inside point of view (I am pretty certain this is the case with @GDead_Tiger if not everyone), but rather I keep seeing people that actually likely have good perspective just laugh or send short messages, rather than actually adding the value of their insiders perspective.

Anyway, my two cents. Probably worth less.

From NBC....

The U.S. was targeting a section of Iran where a school was struck, officials told Congress

Trump administration officials told lawmakers in closed-door briefings this week that the United States was targeting the area in Iran where an elementary school was struck and scores of children were killed, two U.S. officials told NBC News. The U.S. knows the strike on the school was not by the Israelis, Trump administration officials told lawmakers, according to the two U.S. officials.

The administration officials acknowledged to lawmakers that the U.S. was operating in that section of Iran and did not offer a likely alternative theory to the idea that the strike could have been the U.S., the two U.S. officials said. At least 168 people were killed at the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in the southern Iranian town of Minab, according to Iranian authorities, though some Iranian officials have said publicly the death toll could be higher.

U.S. Central Command has said the investigation into the strike is ongoing. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Wednesday that the U.S. was still “investigating,” adding: “Of course, we never target civilians, but we’re taking a look at investigating that.” Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters Monday that U.S. forces “would not deliberately target a school.”

Thanks for the input. I get what you are saying, but its not apples to oranges. Of course this board is the number one source for Clemson sports, and I wouldn't rely on the mainboard or or other source to get inside intel.

But when it comes to the USA being the home team, the script flips. There is much more information out there than can be gleaned here. While I love my Tiger brethren, the breadth of the mainboard has a shltton more info than here. There are literally a handful of us who live in the UAE providing updates and pictures on the ground. That's just one example. And I have been over there long enough to sort the experts from the trolls. Not unlike here.

Long story short: if I want the latest in Clemson sports, I come here. If I want an aggregator of national news, I go there.

Oh for sure, I get that. Wasn't necessarily talking about that board vs this one. I haven't actually ventured over there recently. More just meant on this chain specifically, many of us would love if insiders would share more rather than laughing and pot shotting.

at the risk of being political i find this meme culture ******** from the official WH account to be deeply embarrassing, especially as we learn we're almost certainly responsible for blowing up that school. it's hard to fathom the things that pass for normal now.

i wonder if the families of the six soldiers who died so far think war is a game.

Yeah it’s objectively gross, regardless of political affiliation.

I honestly don’t know much about China. I was Russia and Europe with a fairly narrow focus. I know enough to say that there are legit questions about Xi’s eroding hold on power and the higher up purges were efforts to consolidate that hold that stemmed from larger, conspiracy/subversion concerns. Corruption charges added a veneer of legitimacy to Xi simply getting rid of 2-3 people he perceived as major political threats. How serious those perceived threats were and how far they had gotten/what had actually occurred, I wouldn’t be the one to ask. I honestly don’t know.

I do think it’s fair to say that China has some overextension concerns and issues hindering their ability to capitalize on these opportunities the way they could 5, 8, 10 years ago. The Middle East is also just a different beast than east Africa or certain parts of Lat Am. @BigPapaWhit

To be fair, aircraft/grey tail availability could be the big driver. I have seen a few exercises cancelled because iron and flight crews are being diverted. That does not necessarily mean escalation of ground forces. Emphasis on necessarily.
Out of the loop on such things now, but I can 100% attest such exercises being canx'd due to real world ops. Alone, this is an indicator of nothing. Interesting for sure, but inconclusive.

I don't want to ruin your evening but the hammer is dropping now on the terrorists big time as I type.

A third Aircraft carrier group the H.W. Bush is on its way to the theatre as well.
i think you're probably just mad that we did in fact blow up a school full of innocent children on the first day of this operation instead of it being an Iranian misfire like you said as you mocked the initial reports.

These Iraqi militia groups that are aligned with Iran are causing trouble. But you know Iraq is a stable republic.

I don’t know which were the good posters, but chucktownk was talking **** about me posting news that has since been proven true so he can walk.
Not an endorsement one way or the other, but imperfect people can provide quality content. I get that it's always hard to keep emotions out of events like this, but too bad we couldn't tamp down the hyperpartisanship.

Hard core lefties chased all the good posters out of this thread. I hope y'all are happy getting all your news from MS Now and CNN (but of course you are)

These contradict each other, you know this right? Chucktown (as @kidmike41 said) or whatever quoted like 5 straight posts of news and called each of them Bull Sh it. I think all of them turned out to be true- he's a Maga dude. It's not just those on the left that are running people off with partisanship

I replied earlier….

Dahieh has been evacuated and will get hammered tonight. In multiple waves. If munitions were an issue they wouldn’t be doing that in Lebanon right now. East Tehran got hammered today. Multiple waves. The US now has B-52s making runs. None of that supports the assertion. Hegseth has said we’re fine repeatedly. The pace will slow simply because the pace thus far has been incredible and the initial waves of broad target packages have been or are being destroyed. The focus will get narrower. Things will slow because the limiting factor is becoming less numerous - not because munitions are becoming an issue.
When are you coming back? I need someone to explain why we are bombing Irans oil infrastructure. If we blow the country too much to **** how are they supposed to start over? I thought this was a regime change situation?
