Why? You’ve been minimizing every other reason given. It would make sense that you saw the biggest problem with TnT being the fans at this point. The only sarcasm I detect is you saying he needs to be let go for whatever reason.

Top 25? I think it's been established if you aren't reeling in at least 1 top 5 p4p recruit each class, it just won't do. There is a huge gap between top 5 and 25, factor in p4p its impossible to be competitive.
HWC needs to also be a priority, period.

I've posted about this on other threads extensively but it's really not necessarily about top 5 P4P as much as it is being able to identify the top 10 or top 15 guy that will hit another gear and stay healthy, which is some Iowa has had issues with for whatever reason. They've been screwed by big recruits being injury prone or not turning into elite college wrestlers or, in the case of Jesuroga, just not wrestling ever in college.
And there in lies the problem…we should have a larger sample in the finals!!!
A few holes?? Our whole F’ing team is a big question mark next year aside from AF and 1-3 others depending on goals. We don’t want to settle for 6th - or worse - again next year…

Fact. But this year would still suck with the lack of effort in too many places, IMO. Caliendo probably has 70% of the total takedowns on this team (when wrestling someone with a pulse anyway). That is incredibly sad.
There’s been plenty of finalists since then. Not a ton of wins though.
I certainly am with you that it remains to be seen what happens? The thing about it is, it was NOT just BO!!!! It is his BROTHERS and a PIPELINE also, PLUS add the fact that BO is HUGE on social media. When you add it ALL up a B1G BOMB could have gone off!!!

Against some of the TOP guys, I still have not seen a real competitive match that he has been in this year!!! He should face in the PA st. finals, another ALL-TIME kid!!! I will be surprised if BO does not tech him and AMAZED if it is less then a major!!!
ALL this being said, it is possible that BO could have stepped right into the HAWKS line up and just start TEARING people up kinda like SUPERMAN LEE!!! That could have been B1G and certainly a good shot in the arm for the program!!!!
The B1G picture is, you add him into what we have, with his brother and you MIGHT just possible have the team on paper that can take out F*** st!!!!
Isn’t it only for 3 more years? Don’t know how he can tell this years freshman he will be here if they redshirt like Harvey and Leo. Definitely can make that promise to 27/28 class unless he’s as confident as Ferentz that he controls when he will retire. I think someone said Hutcherson in 28, asked about succession plans. I hope Tom will see the writing on the wall like Smith did, and “retire” to make way for a hot young coach, instead of an ugly firing after their long positive history with Iowa starting as competitors, much like Smith. People would really be freaking out if he planned on coaching well into his 70’s like Ferentz, with no obvious top notch successor in waiting. The perfect situation would be bringing in Nolf to replace Terry and be named head coach in waiting so recruits wouldn’t worry about being committed for 2-3 years then having no idea who be their coach. Terry could take over HWC. Morningstar and Telford find new jobs,
pretty sure the coach admitted after they flipped to him, that V tech can’t give the financial package that is and the other big programs can, but these top recruits they have now all passed up more money because V tech is such an amazing program. I’m sure they are really maxed out now with the Siedel class, Bassett class, and the #1 class of 2027 with Miller in it. Will probably drop to # 2 behind PSU if miller reclassifies. Carrini kid out of California looks like a great 184 prospect, may start as true freshman for them next year. They will be ahead of us, nipping on the heals of tOSU next year for third and be very young. Robie not young or a big name, but can sell ice to Eskimo’s. Think he may have been Angelo’s second choice.
I feel safe saying this. This has to be the lowest amount of bonus point wins out of an Iowa team since Kurdelmeier was coaching. One lack of total matches but we also just don't have the bonus type guys in the lineup. And with Mikey, Patrick and Drake graduating- dare I say- it could be lower next season.

He could also "plateau" and "only" be a really good D1 wrestler, maybe winning a title, or three. We just don't know yet. For sure...there are more "all timers" these days than back in the day.
Despite any future success, no matter how rich it is...he may or may not be someone that a top coach wants in their room. We shall see.
I'm with you as to how good this kid is, and the attention he brings, which sports is an entertainment business and part of Beth's job is making sure there are butts in seats and eyes on screens; Fran won but no one wanted to watch anymore, and the temper shtick got old.
My problem with "oh if we had just gotten Bo, then everything thing would be fine," doesn't hold water for me - yes it gives us a kick up the backside for a window, same as Spencer, but it doesn't solve long term issues.
And yes this is a what have you done for me lately business so I get that means 4-5 better than good years with Bo and co is not something to ignore, but that applies the other way too, which is why we are having this discussion, and changes have to be made, because Bo ain't coming; time to move on, and answer the question Tom about why you can't get your team to stop wrestling like Mstar, and if you can't solve that beyond saying you need more wrestlers...

Man I'm glad someone said it. Not elite at all. Freaking awesome kid, but adding him in the conversation as a big bonus pickup was crazy talk.
Precisely why "good" is the enemy of "great". As soon as "pretty damn good" becomes acceptable you can kiss greatness goodbye. And that's exactly what has happened at Iowa.

I don’t know what the problem is, won’t pretend to, but it seems like this is scraping the floor of where the program would be with any coach presently coaching a top 10-15 team (and many not).
Even Brands seems done, too. We’re at the “seeing a marriage counselor because the kids deserve at least that much” stage of the divorce.
I know they beat Oklahoma State in a dual in November and I know they had some tough losses in Bassetts and Miller and Endene. But it’s Iowa. IOWA. Should be at a place in development that losing recruits a year from enrolling isn’t crippling.
Not to mention his free style cred and what that would being to the program

Tom will never win another title at iowa and any attempt to turn the program around at his age is just putting iowa further behind. Even with the class of 2026, 2027 and 2028 he is way behind psu and okie state not to mention ohio state and virginia tech who are moving up as well. There just are not enough premier wrestlers in the portal to turn a program around in one year. Strap in it's going to get worse next year
They seemed really engaged during duals cheering for the guys. Bailey seemed in his interview early this week like he wasnt checked out. Williams who knows with the post season descion maybe things have changed there. I remmber listening to a podcast bailey was on and he said joe williams has talked to him and been around the room there both harvey twister guys he liked that but who knows with college athletics these days
Wonder who all will be on his list. Won't matter because VT will need to pay whatever Ms Bassett asks or lose them all. VT has high hopes but wonder if they know what they're up against.

My guess is that staff changes will be part of their conversation following this season. IMO, it should be.

Detroit didn’t sell out. We had 4 all session tickets. We couldn’t get close to face value. After the quarterfinals we sold them all to a scalper for $50 bucks. As we went into the arena on the night of the finals, the scalper still had the finals tickets we sold him and said he didn’t sell any of the tickets he purchased from us.
He’s even going to have a tough time starting for many years at V tech. I know they all want to follow Bo, but Keegan may have to look for a school he has a better shot at being a multi year starter instead of being a cheer leader for Bo and Melvin.
His dad thinks he will be top 10 pfp by his senior year. Think he is #17 now, has some work to do. Sean Kenny 6 or 7 and same weight class. Hopefully that shoulder surgery goes well. Ross seems to be doing fine now after same injury.
