This may be the most detailed accounting of some of the issues that I’ve seen from a more official source, but there being character concerns with him has been known for some time now. I figure that this is already baked in to his recruitment instead of being completely new information to college coaches, but he’s definitely a risk in that regard.
I think we need to pass on this guy. This is trouble on a stick.

IDK, he seems like the type of kid that would be a problem all year. I'd rather put big money on a kid that is stable and won't quit at the first sign of adversity, or do what Peterson at KU keeps doing.
Like who? All the other top high school players are either signed or not interested in UK.

If Pope returns will be fortunate to have a player of owehs abilities and he’s not that good. I think the man’s gonna have a serious decision on his hands come the end of the season. It’s not gonna be so simple to just return. He’s gonna have to feel like the team could be successful. or stick around UK year three and risk being rejected by big blue nation for the long-term

I’m a win at a few costs guy, but can’t overlook bad behavior just to win ball games. It’s why Oats handling the Miller thing a few years ago soured me on him as a person and as a coach.

He's doing what he's being coached to do. We love him when he wins games for us, so why are we dogging him, when he's at least trying to do something other than pee down his leg, like several of the other guys did last night?

Had the very conversation with about 6 people today at work. These are people who watch every game, frequently go to games and one of those guys is so upset they want Pope gone. Everyone else was more like me — pissed at how we are playing, thinks Pope has been disappointing but far from concluded about how it looks long term. I think most people that aren’t criminally online like us are sensible and can see that we have a very uphill situation. Pope could be better and you know I believe that he’s stunk alot. Nothing is settled about his job but he will need to perform with a new AD, but he was going to have to perform anyway.
Everyone knew about Demarcus Cousins too, right? Smh

Lots of reasons he might’ve gotten into two fights in a short amount of time. And lots od reasons an affluent private Catholic school might put him on a short leash.
Maybe he’s the devil incarnate I don’t know but Cousins punched a coach in HS and we welcomed him with open arms and he was not a problem at UK.
I’m going to hold off passing judgement on a high school kid who got into two fights. Some young people need more guidance than others. I see that everyday as a high school teacher.
