Mitch is corrupt to the core. Did anyone hear pope at the presser?
“Mitch has done so much for elevating the campus and everything outside of sports for UK” Mark tried to use what he could, certainly couldn’t use major sports to prop him.
The guy is a hatchet man, it’s a clear as day. He an SEC AD he’s responsible for winning and hiring / firing and coaches contracts. He’s not responsible for being a landlord on campus. This is why Mitch stayed so long. He even said “I planned on staying 6-8 years”. Well, when you’re willing to suck in major sports and suck in your blue blood sport, and be a financial administrator to ship money to drama clubs and land lording, and god knows what else he’s done, it easy to have an academic president allow you to sit and stay. Mitch became something else early on and that’s why he didn’t leave. Most SEC programs expect their AD to win, not here.
What he did was decide to give money to small sports knowing other programs don’t put money into that a take from their major sports. Mitch points to success in rowing / backgammon to give himself something to show as AD. His goals were to be a hatchet man for the BOT and establishment. Guys like Newton lobbied for sports. Mitch asks what he can do to better what the swamp wants and doesn’t lobby for sports unless it’s a new fitness center with his name on it.
He’s the worst sports figure I’ve ever encountered. Cannot say enough bad about that guy. Glad he was pressured out. He needs more than that. Any AD in the SEC or in history would have done all that sht across campus. It’s called modern revenues. The difference is, they win on the field too. Now I’m worried we’re just rearranging pieces on the chess board to get his face off of modern issues when the BOT is going to continue all of this.
