His dad is a Missouri alumni and he has offers from us, Missouri, ISU, Kansas state and Northwestern. ISU and Missouri already have top 75 point/combo guards committed in the 27 class. He also does go to the same high school as former Cyclone Keshon Gilbert. I don’t know if he has a friend or family connection to Iowa though.

I'm excited about the prospect of Ben getting Div. 1 level talent and developing those guys. With those who return, along with the needs being addressed, gives me a lot of hope with this program. But as you say, get the grease in the pan. ;)

We have a solid core of young talent returning starting with Sage and Koch. And IMO Jirak will become the surprise of next season whether we bring in another big or not. I think Ben has underused Trevor this season but he already has very good passing skills and will continue to get stronger to help us on the boards and defend inside. Comb's game may elevate with Stirtz gone but the key starts with filling the hole at point guard. Then things should continue to move forward.

I would agree. I'll be glad when Ben brings in another quality PG and at least one more big. Have to have size in this league. As we continue to get better, we can expect the league as a whole, to get better as well. So, keeping this in mind, we'll have to be ready. Having the roster in balance is key, meaning that we have to have the ability to play big or small at times, but not consistently be undersized. I agree that the players we have returning will only get better.

Our returners are either under-,sized or slow.
Cam- too small for 5, can't shoot.
Combs- good size, can't stay in front of his guy, can't shoot
Koch- too slow to guard 3s, undersized at 4..he can shoot.
Sage- too slow to guard 2s, must play 3,can shoot,
Howard- decent quicks.can't shoot
Jirak- needs muscle, slow, can shoot and pass

If cam, cael and Howard were solid 3 point shooters, Ben could play offense that he wants .
He has designed this years offense to fit the personnel but it's going to be another 2-3 years before he has what he wants.

We have bigger fish to fry who are priorities right now.
I've been appreciating your insights on recruiting, specifically, not to mention your intelligent takes generally.

Quick question: What are your sources? I don't mean to question your validity ... I'm just curious. And you don't have to reveal anything proprietary or anything ... I'd just like to have a better idea where this stuff is coming from, if you are willing to share.

I suppose I should consider the possibility that you are as full of crap as anyone else, and just making stuff up as you go along -- it is the internet, afterall. But that doesn't feel particularly likely in this case. ;)

I appreciate it! I'm nothing special though lol. I pass along what I can, and while I am generally full of s**t, I don't say anything I don't truly believe to be accurate. I just am lucky enough to know a couple people in certain spots and parrot what they offer!

To follow up with some earlier discussions, we're in deep with a couple very high level guards. We are not going "cheap" with them, either. As I've previously mentioned, coming from the finance world, McCollum values players a little differently. He's said a player comes in with a certain price tag and from there he starts to dissect what they bring to the team and HIS value often then changes from from they're asking. But if it doesn't, he's not afraid to go all in!

Nobody here actually/factually knows much of anything, Sir. You know better.

The folks saying “We have bigger fish to fry” and such…Are simply wearing their Hawkeye goggles and letting their hope(s) come out sounding like fact(s).

You're certainly free to think what you want. The objectively verifiable evidence says otherwise.

Expert college basketball evaluation from A - Z. Not necessarily wrong, but players change, grow and get better. Doesn't always happen but good coaching and development could change some of these evaluations.

Don't mean to sound harsh cuz this group has contributed to 20 wins and have made it happen on grit, guts, hard work and discipline, especially on shot selection.
They almost never take a bad shot or play hero ball..that is impressive and good coaching also.
