Clark is so selfish that he had 8 assists.
With the game on the line, he was incredibly selfish.
Continuity matters still. All these learning experiences going through the league for the first time, working with Sha for the first time, all of it lends itself to improvement if it sticks.
I'd like to have him back as well, but would not over pay. And I think he will be better in year two here at this level.
On that possession down 1 with :40 left when he was totally out control, he had Fisher WIDE OPEN at the arc and then he failed to commit the foul Sha was asking for after his miss. Brutal sequence.
Really rough 4 game stretch for Budd, but our offseason should start with a full-court press on retaining Budd, Hines and TJ. 60% or more of our budget should be allocated to bringing them back. If it ends up costing less, great. That’s a discount.

I agree. And I expect a big jump in his play next year. I think it will be a great way to evaluate Sha as talent developer.
My big concern is Sha evaluating the market. I really don't want to overpay him (as he is only 5'10 and can't shoot so the big boys might not be that interested). This is why Sha really needs a GM.
IMO there’s almost no way Budd will go for what he’s worth. So there’s almost no chance we end up overpaying.
GM is a wast of money that we do not have .
I don't know why it is a waste of money. if it helps you better allocate your NIL, it seems worth it to me (especially if it results in better roster, better team and ultimately better donations). With that said, i would agree if we don't have the money, then it probably is not a good idea.
From what I understand.. NIL allocation and market knowledge is what Sha is the worst at as a HC and it’s not even close
But it would be a giant waste of money because in no way would Sha ever listen or defer to a GM
It’s difficult to find a talented point guard in the portal. Budd will be in high demand.
I used to believe the opposite. But now I'm not so sure. It seems to me --from afar and with zero inside knowledge-- that Sha listens to no one...neither AD nor assistants. That's a weakness that hopefully he can cure with some genuine introspection. He will be a better coach if he can grasp that.
Based on what he has shown this year, and his size, does he get more than that on the open market?
Boomer is dead on here, I believe. Clark will get undervalued by the market because of his size and lack of shooting 3s. So many of the analytic heavy teams absolutely despise the mid range game. If a shorter than normal PG can make 3s at a high clip and/or get the rim all the time, they won’t care. But a smaller PG who lives in the mid range will probably result in him getting less than he is actually worth as an experienced senior PG. absolutely I think we should do what it takes to retain him. He’s a potential all league player next season.
Seconded. Don't waste the progress made and retain these 3 and build. You know what you have here. That's a strong trio.
That 10-man rotation is a pipedream anyway. He's gotta realize by now it's not a BE plan. He's not even using it anymore.
Are you insane? Budd and Hines got around 700k, I doubt Simpkins sniffed 600k. So if we didn’t pay 2 mill for those three than you definitely don’t up it.
If you think we are retaining Hines for anything less than $2 million you just don’t understand the market. I think he will command more. Is the whole system insane? Yes. But I hope I’m not!
I'm not. Again, all this NIL stuff is somewhat of a "black box", and who knows whether what one reads or hears is accurate, in whole or part. But there have been stories or interviews in which "Player X" took less money to stay at a particular school.
I fear he will. Deep pockets and a desperate coach will spend other people’s money freely.
The other elephant in the room is Shas reaction when they come back asking for more $$ in year two

Not sure why you just mention Budd as far as size is concerned. I have beat this drum often and I have to do it here. It is not just Budd. We are small at just about every position including center unless Hines is in the game. We field one of the smallest lineups in division 1!
The size disadvantage or disparity is at just about every position! He has to be the point guard working with a smallest lineup one can imagine, and all things considered he has done a damn good job despite the player size handicap he is dealt with.
Pitino and Danny would grab Budd in a heartbeat! Just imagine what Budd would do surrounded by the other starters on those teams!
He’s a nice player, won’t make the all BE freshman team, averages 6 & 5, with that being said he should be our top priority. But he won’t sniff 2 mill

I don't think either would as each wants taller guards. UCONN's tandem are both 6'4". Pitino would take Himes in a NY minute if it fit the team budget. Does Himes have a bigger upset going into next year than Zuby did coming into last year?
He also didn't foul Ball, and we should have had the basketball back on a shot clock violation. I think the call threw him, and he was bound and determined to get the points back.
You have to consider the mentality of those thinking it.
