Why would the 51st ranked player be a 3 star
Usually recruiting services will have very few 5 stars, and some but not many 4 stars. As the year continues, they will start adding a few 5 stars to the elite guys and there will end up being a lot of 4 stars. No chance the 51st guy will be anything close to a 3 star by end of the recruiting cycle, so you were correct to point that out.

This is what happens when your philosophy is to not focus on high schoolers. For example, UK coaches have always been mainstays at major state events such as Hoopsfest, Mustang Madness, King of the Bluegrass, etc. Tubby, Gillispie, Cal, assistants, all were in attendance. Not only is it great for our state, but for recruiting too. A win - win for UK to be involved.

Enter CMP who hasn't been to any local or regional events to date. He told one local organizer that recruiting high school players was not the future of the sport.

How's that working out for you bro?

I can tell you for sure that Hoopfest was attended by only one UK coach from 2001 to 2012 with any consistency. That was Cal. Tubby was present only one year, one year. He missed one of the biggest High School events in the nation, during the early 2000s, and it was held in Kentucky. It was always in full action on the same day as UK- UNC game. Roy Williams would leave the UK_UNC game and travel to Benton (HoopFest) from Lexington or, Chapel Hill. Tubby missed the Tyler Hansbrough year altogether. Roy Williams sat by me. Hansbrough acknowledged him.
Jon Sheyer , Shawn Livingston and many, many others that listed UK did not see a UK coach at Hoopfest. Only Cal showed up regularly, starting his first year. HoopFest is still a major high school event but not as unique as it was, in those early years. Steve Woodward was an amazing AD at Marshall County. He coordinated everything HOOPFEST.

Billy G, for all he wasn't, was at Hoopsfest both years he was coach. I am not sure about Tubby, but I'll take your word on it.

Regardless, Pope isn't involved enough on the high school scene, period.

Embarrassing one star trolls on this board. Sad lives.

Richie Saunders was a three star recruit. Some services also had Lamont Butler as a 3 star. Losers who slam the #51 recruit clearly never achieved much in their own lives.
Awww u got ur feelings hurt.

Maybe some people think Kentucky deserves to get the best players

Yes pretty disappointed how many horrible takes there are about Washington. Just the usual idiotic, knee-jerk reactions.

If they actually took the time to actually read about him, they'll see that he already has an offer from Purdue, and is likely to get a lot of other high major offers in the next couple years. With his ranking, he's likely to end up a 4 star recruit. Not someone who's likely to be a major contributor right away, but sounds like he'd excel in Pope's system.

There’s zero sense of urgency with 80% of this fanbase and this coaching staff, it’s mind blowing. 2028 recruit visiting shouldn’t even be news, we have no one signed for next year, a coach who can’t coach. This type b personality **** isn’t gonna cut it at all levels.

This kid is a good player. Same high school as Romeo Langford. He'll be at least a four star. He's already been offered by Purdue.

If pope is still our coach in 2028 I’ll be done as a uk fan. They’ll be no coming back for the program

If Pope is still the coach in 2028 it will be because he accomplished something significant in 2027.

I’m as critical of Mark Pope as anybody, but there is nothing wrong with having a top 50ish recruit visit. Who knows what this guy could be in two years as a senior. Players drop and players improve. He could end up falling out of the top 100 or jumping in the top 20.

It is absolutely insane to me, from any objective point of view, that someone could say something negative about this kid visiting. National recruit, local, top 50 ish, lots of potential, sophomore, good kid and family.….
