In the last 5 seasons, which player would you add to this year's team? And why?

So...picking any player back to the 2020-2021 season...Just curious for discussion sake to see what people may think would be the most valuable single piece to add for this team...

My initial thought is maybe a healthy Lamont Butler. It would give this team the leader, defensive stopper and distributor this team could really use.

Other thoughts?

The only ones to consider are:
Oscar - generational rebounder, but had defensive limitations
Grady - underrated, made 41.5% of his 3's but until his foot injury I think it was in the 45-50% range
Wallace - very good defender, but could score too, and could run the PG
Reeves - ThReeves was underrated in 1st year (39.8% from 3), was even better 2nd year 44.7% and added one of the best floaters I've ever seen
Sheppard - 52.1% from, 3.2 STOCKs/gm and could play PG, but often beat off the dribble
Butler - his defense and tough nose type play is what you want from your PG on every team, and PG is a big need this year

I think adding any of those 6 would make this team a F4 contender (not a favorite, but one of the 8-12 teams who could do it). In order (looking both at what the player adds and what this team needs), I would rank them as:
Butler
Sheppard
Oscar
Wallace
Reeves
Grady

Oscar. Player of the year for a reason. I’m amazed he doesn’t get any NBA run. He basically dominates the g league so you would figure he could be a role player on a roster somewhere at least.

It seems like a few fans have forgotten that Oscar was the National Player of the year.

I didn't forget about Oscar b/c I was torn b/t him and Butler. My choice came down to the leadership & defensive presence Butler could possibly provide. I also considered Isaiah Jackson for the rim protection on defense.

A healthy Butler is maybe one of the most underrated players I’ve seen in my life. The guy had pretty good physical abilities but his heart was unmatched. Maybe one of my favorite UK players ever. We just didn’t get to see enough of him because darn injuries.

I wasn’t calling you out at all. Butler is a great choice.

Here's the best team I could put together from the last five years:

pg - R. Sheppard (2024) - 2nd Team SEC
sg - O. Oweh (2026) - Possible 1st Team or 2nd Team SEC
sf - A. Reeves (2024) - 1st Team SEC
pf - K. Brooks Jr. (2022)
c - O. Tshiebwe (2022) - NPOY

Because of injury: Sheppard, Wallace, or Butler. I don't like Reed's defense enough. So I'd pick between Wallace and Butler. Probably lean Butler.

Without injury: Oscar(and it wouldnt even be close)

Lamont Butler, Antonio Reeves, Amari Williams, or Jaxon Robinson. Any of those players would dramatically improve the roster.

Because of COVID, he gets another year. Nick Richard’s and Antonio Reeves. Poster above mentions Brooks. No way. Jacob Toppin and Andrew Carr are both way better than Brooks.

Reed or Butler, I lean Butler for the D, but Reed can easily make up for his lack of D with offense.
