Why I Missed the Illinois Game

[Conn53victor]

I had five events on Thursday night. The Iowa-Illinois game came in second to the ticket to the Moth Radio Hour at the Englert Theatre, a ticket my daughter gave me as a Christmas present to sit beside her. I had a very nice time, then rushed home and queued up Fly Hippie's version of the game, watching from the start, having no idea of the outcome. Spoiler: Iowa won.

The Moth is "Five seasoned storytellers will... extraordinary, true stories that dig deep into the idea of the American Dream." Here are some basketball examples from other nights of Moth storytelling.

Chris Rasheed: "An Unlikely Star Saves The Team" (Kentucky, 2012)

Harwood Taylor: "We’re Not Just Playing Basketball" (Houston, 2018).

Marianna: "Hustling For Flowers" (NYC, 2022)

I would have stopped with, I had a conflict with my daughter. That's not something I'd enjoy but different strokes for different folks. Family comes first though.

I'd argue that the guy who bails on his kid to watch a college sporting event on TV is the one who needs to justify his actions. Not you.
