Damn, Iowa turns out great linebackers.
I’m not a Lions fan by any means. But I remember there was some criticism for Detroit using their first rd picks in the teens on a RB (Gibbs) and LB. Saying need other players at positions that are more of a premium and could get value at these 2 positions later. Think those picks turned out ok after all.
Jack has come a long, lucrative way from Cedar Falls High School. He was also one of the best Iowa linebackers I've ever seen, going back to Leven Weiss.
We are doing the double header in September. Iowa at Michigan on Saturday and then Jets at the Lions on Sunday! Will be fun.
Leven Weiss? I am older than dirt but do not recall his career at Iowa.

Weiss was a hard-hitting LB on Hayden's first team in 1979. I think he made All-Big Ten 2nd team or HM. I don't recall his play for Bob, but there wasn't much to be happy about in 1978 at 2-9.
Campbell was one of four Iowa players taken in the 2023 NFL draft. The others were DL Lukas Van Ness (also first round, to Green Bay), TE Sam La Porta (second round, also to Detroit) and DB Riley Moss (third round to Denver).
All were 3 star prospects coming out of high school.
