But there has to be some kind of barometer to get into the HOF…otherwise no one would get in because there are people that hate every band or artist.Yea... see i don't use #1 on billboard as a barometer.

These guys are better than the Beatles ffs
It’s not totally subjective. There is definitive criteria that one could use to judge the quality of music.BINGO! it's subjective - maybe the definition of subjective.
Phil Collins pretty much defined 80s rock. Like him or not, he belongs in The Hall. He was the biggest star in the music world during the Live Aid era.Phil Collins?!?!?! Good god, just host the doors now! I’d rather see Richard Marx go in!
The Guess Who is quite underrated.also Steponwolf and guess who.
If you like his stuff, listen to the hell out of it.Based on what other than your opinion? I guess it’s because he was only the third best selling artist of the 80’s (not even counting what he did with Genesis). Other than a few songs, I’m not a big Phil Collins fan, but if he can’t get in, then just about nobody should get in.
its all opinion, of course. Though I’m pretty sure if there was a scientific test, Phil Collins music would prove out to be crap.By what measure is Phil Collins music "crap"?
In fact, I would like to know, other than opinion, what makes music good or bad?
These guys are better than the Beatles ffs
Well said. It’s not totally subjective. There is definitive criteria that one could use to judge the quality of music.
Whether you actually enjoy the music or not is completely subjective.
Like him or not he did. From TV shows to movies.Phil Collins pretty much defined 80s rock. Like him or not, he belongs in The Hall. He was the biggest star in the music world during the Live Aid era.

The Beatles movie we need…
I should have cut and pasted....
The nominations for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame‘s Class of 2026 are in – and the list includes Phil Collins, Lauryn Hill, Mariah Carey, Oasis, Pink, the Black Crowes, Jeff Buckley, Melissa Etheridge, Billy Idol, INXS, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, New Edition, Sade, Shakira, Luther Vandross, and the Wu-Tang Clan
not many nominations I’d call rock n roll. The place is a joke.I should have cut and pasted....

Oh absolutely there is criteria they use. I don't. It's their RRHOF not mine. But there has to be some kind of barometer to get into the HOF…otherwise no one would get in because there are people that hate every band or artist.
Oh absolutely I think its a great movie and was a trendsetter for things to follow... Hello MTV.Nah:

Holy ****, didn’t we have a poster 20-25 years ago with the handle mixolydian?Sure, but other than the insipid lyrics and that punchable Gerber Baby face, what makes it suck?
Played around the C mixolydian scale which is quite common in rock and blues, with a pretty standard beat and rhythm.
I mean, I don't like the tune, but its hard to say a song that hit #1 on billboard is craptastic.
"Who's that little old man?"Oh absolutely I think its a great movie and was a trendsetter for things to follow... Hello MTV.
Hell I still like Help.
No I just think the Ruttles is pretty funny. It was Spinal Tap before Spinal Tap.
There are a few folks inducted twice. Here are a couple of them. For those that don’t get the Beatles, take a moment to think how many great artists have covered their songs.
Tgar submits the following for your consideration….

I've read different accounts. Many said Paul just liked him and told the lads he was his grandad so they wouldn't give him a hard time. I've never read the script though.Paul's Grandad.
Help was too Monkees for me.Oh absolutely I think its a great movie and was a trendsetter for things to follow... Hello MTV.

First, maybe "characteristics" is a better word than "criteria".What criteria might those be?
And what criteria is that because looking at who’s in, there doesn’t seem to be other than a group of people’s opinion.Oh absolutely there is criteria they use. I don't. It's their RRHOF not mine.
Thats why I don't get upset over it.
So real rock and roll is the stuff that no one listens to….got it.FIFY
Rule #1, if there’s a pit, the band is probably not very good.My view from the pit (opening for the Hives)
May I suggest Billy Joel for you at the garden. Your own seat and everything. You could make a boys night with your brosRule #1, if there’s a pit, the band is probably not very good.
You would have to ask them. And what criteria is that because looking at who’s in, there doesn’t seem to be other than a group of people’s opinion.
Not true at all. Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band and U2 among others have pits at there shows.Rule #1, if there’s a pit, the band is probably not very good.
These guys are better than the Beatles ffs
No way bro these boys are old school lean punkers from same place as my girl:your son's high school garage band?
