You could have 8-4 in football with a win over OM & a good bowl for the baseball team tanking & NO postseason play.

Only State fans ask these questions. But what do ye of little faith say?

I am predicting Sam Leavitt will have his best season ever and win the Heisman.

So basically the 2010 baseball team and 2010 football team. I'd say Mississippi State athletics were more enjoyable for me that year than they are now

Playing football at State is kinda like a job. I go to work to support my family and to be able to do other things I enjoy such as hunt, fish, travel, etc.

State plays football so we can pay the bills to enjoy baseball.

This is simple… 8-4 football season makes a 17ton of money, while post season in baseball equals more in debt and does zero for your ATH department . You take football success over anything baseball does and it’s not close
There’s a reason you’re seeing teams in the SEC dropping games this year. Most schools are not investing in baseball now

The SEC has 12 teams in the Too 25, and they have won the last 6 CWS titles. Not bad for a bunch of schools not investing in it

Is the hypothetical this year's baseball team tanks? Because basically you're saying a very good baseball season, sacrificed, for 8-4 football season and a music city bowl appearance.

No, the answer is no. I want to see how this baseball team finished. Not to mention how much excitement is around this baseball team now, it has potential to be a fun spring/summer.

Of those top 12 teams in some weird poll not names AP or Usatodaybwharever have lost games to lesser teams already? A quick search shows that 2-6 TCU is ranked. Laughable
some “investment “ your seeing being done and completed was approved and signed before July of last year.. why did I bring up July 2025? That’s when Rev share started . We will start to see more and more schools no longer invest or significantly cut funding in baseball over the next few years. No school makes money in the sport

Also anyone thinking that a 8-4 football season is some monetary windfall for MSU, is not remembering the past.

You could guarantee State fans a 8-4 season today, season tickets sales wouldn't change much.

I bet you still have more fans in attendance for many Saturday sec baseball games this spring than you will have for football v Tennessee Tech in late November. I'm not taking reported attendance, I'm saying Actual butts in seats.

Say you don't know what the hell you're talking about without opening your mouth.

Did you give 1/2 a second of thought to that statement that you typed, because it took me about 15 seconds to find these numbers:

-Florida spent $65 Million on a new one that opened in the last 5 years
-Utah just opened a new $35 MILLION dollar facility this month
-Tennessee is spending $105 MILLION on renovating Lindsey Nelson Field, it will be complete this season
-Georgia just renovated theirs and opened it last season, spent $45 MILLION
-The A&M Aggies approved $85 MILLION last season for renovating Blue Bell Park
-The Sooners are currently spending $45 MILLION on the construction/renovation of their baseball facility
-Texas Tech spent $15 MILLION on their clubhouse alone last season
-OK St spent $60 MILLION in the last 5 years for a new one, and no it wasn't funded by T. Boone Pickens
-Univ of Northern MS announced some improvements last year but I think they were holding off till after this season to do it
NEW SMALL COLLEGE VENUES (Shows its not just big programs)
-Augusta University just built a new baseball stadium
-Univ of N AL just built a new stadium stadium
-West Valley College in CA just opened Valhalla Stadium this month
-College of FL is building a new stadium

OK, you don't like baseball, but you don't have to lie about it to try and degrade it

If you're asking me here on February 26th, about the 2026 baseball team, heck no. Right now I'm having to get my baseball wool sheared daily, and even my kids are chiming in at the dinner table.

If this was a decision, say, 1/1/24, yeah, I'm taking 8-4 and the Egg Bowl.

A lot of gray area in that. Does the 8-4 come with an upset of a top 5 team or is it just winning a cupcake out of conference schedule and wins vs. the lower tier of the SEC while getting blown out by the top half? Either way I say no.

Can you read??? Most of those projects were signed before Rev share.
The naivety of some of you all on here that can’t see schools are going to cut back on Olympic sports. Keep holding on to thinking baseball is gonna still get their share. It’s not gonna happen especially in P4.

I thought the question was regarding this past football season where a win over OM would’ve knocked them out of the playoffs. I would have to take that.

I read well. You said investing "now", these are stadiums opening "NOW" as in this season or no more than the last few years. You can be butt hurt all your want about baseball but it's not going away. Do you think these institutions are going to spend all these millions and walk away from the sport and facilities? I'll continue to update you as more baseball projects are announced

I don’t hate the game I do hate the emphasis we put on it. And please do update me on so called investments in this sports. It’s a money drain on athletic departments and we will continue to see funding of the sport at a good who are investing in football and basketball
