Alvaro is being so much more aggressive and playing with so much more confidence these last few games. It's just what the Hawkeyes needed. He must keep on keepin' on. Alvaro is one of the keys to success because he can help in so many ways on both ends of the floor. And he seems like a great teammate and a funny guy.

they need to mic him up more often. the guy is hilarious, as seen in the 2 videos above.

thankfully you don't need a lot of wrist strength to play basketball. ;)

If this Folgueris shows up on a regular basis look out.
Stirtz just needs that one extra scorer on a consistent basis to take some pressure off him.
He plays like this and we can get off the 8-9 line look out. We might be looking at the second weekend for the first time in forever.

Pretty much was going to say exactly that. If that 2nd scorer can be relied upon, that makes a huge difference with this team.

Ben McCollum on Alvaro Folgueiras:

"Everybody develops differently. As long as you don’t rush it, which is really impressive by him, that he didn’t rush it. Because he was a sought-after transfer and he’s coming off the bench. He’s not sitting there pouting about it. He wants to play more, obviously. But he just keeps coming back for more and keeps fighting. That’s another winning quality that he’s starting to slowly develop. But he hasn’t reached it yet and we’ll make sure he knows that and keep him going in the direction. If not, (his brother) Nacho will.”

I've been saying it all year. He's most important player after Stirtz. We don't have another guy on team that has both his size and skillset. Seems to be all about confidence with him. Some nights he's decisive and others tentenative. You can almost see it immediately.

What follows makes me think that Alvaro has problems staying focused. He's a funny guy & I bet he's a hoot to be around but there's times when you have to be serious & have your head on straight.

I'd say it's also a matter of handling crowds that are against you. Alvaro hasn't gone on the road and done what he did last night. His body language changes when he misses a certain number of shots in a row or turns it over. He has to learn to play through mistakes and not wallow in it. He also seems to not enjoy contact.

Folgueiras is a truly contrasting individual .....

When he's 'on', he's nearly unstoppable on offense & plays with a lot of effort on the D end.

When he's 'off'', he's a near complete no-show on both ends of the court.
