Here are some quotes.

“So we’re probably having conversations about it on a weekly basis.”

-

“It is so dynamic right now — the portal, NIL,” he said at the time. “Conference realignment has changed so quickly. Building a staff now, you are not looking just for the skill sets for just recruiting, but considering GM positions that navigate a roster, considering NIL positions.”

-

“I like it in terms of the manpower, for sure. I like it in terms of the manpower, I like it in terms of the focus. I like it in terms of the 24/7, just being solely focused on that,” Pope said. “One of the ways where I think it kind of can hurt is — the purpose is to purchase one degree of separation. There’s also some danger that comes with that in terms of, I think sometimes it can be less beneficial for student-athletes. I think sometimes it can be a little bit problematic in terms of communication.

-

“That’s the whole purpose of it, right? That’s the part that, if we go that direction, we’ll have to be very clear and very focused on that, because at the end of the day, we have things that have to be done here.”

Anyone who thinks Pope is going to fire some of his assistants or bring in guys to help with recruiting or his defensive woes this offseason are fooling themselves. He’s stuck on his ways and has no intention to anything but drive us deeper into the bottomless pit while we watch in horror because no one will listen to the concerns of the fans.

We dealt was this crap with the twilight years of Tubby and Cal and we’re already dealing with it nearly 2 years into Pope.

Stuck in his ways is one of the reasons why BBN ran CCC off. Not again :((

If he still has that much sway with MB, then he isn't going anywhere...for a long while
Pope isn’t going anywhere as long as he makes the tournament every year, record be damned. That’s good enough for Mitch Barnhart and probably his successor.

It's not just Mitch Barnhart. All that changed over the summer with Champions Blue LLc. Mitch was on the fence about Stoops, the board was ready to move on. Just like any other company

He has to change things with recruiting. He absolutely needs a GM. He has to consider the style of player that fits his system. He has to become a serious coach. Not a cheerleader. You can be a nice guy and still be a killer between the lines. You can bring positive energy and still instill discipline. He’s getting another year. If he doesn’t realize what he’s doing has a lot of faults it will be his last.

To quote Pope, ‘we are not going to let anyone take our power.’

Guess that includes a GM. You know since he is killing with the recruits and he and his inner self did such a bang up job last year with that $22 million.

Name one dude, one dawg he has brought in so far. For someone that is supposed to be sooooo smart, he is being dumb right now.

If we had a forward thinking AD, this would’ve been discussed BEFORE hiring Pope. This shouldn’t be negotiable. This is a must have in the current climate of college basketball. We are so far behind the other blue bloods because of a lack of leadership at AD and HC.

Mitch wanted a yes-man. That’s what he hired. And yes-men usually want their own yes-men so I’m sure all of Pope’s coaches are in agreement to everything we’ve been seeing, so it’s doubtful there is much constructive criticism among this staff, which would explain why Pope and staff make the same mistakes over and over again.

What the hell is he talking about; communication will immediately be better with a GM.I think Pope can't see the forest for the trees.
He could if he wasn't surrounded by yes men. Everyone, including the recruits, is telling him what he wants to hear. I believe he'll come to his senses when the games are no longer being played.
