Canadien team is one of the best teams ever assembled. Our team was assembled to defend their best. We built our team from the back knowing we would see Canada in the medal round. The fact their best couldn’t beat our defensive structured team is what is not sitting well with them.Couple things... Int'l hockey has never had a play until someone scores approach. Thats the NHL. Int'l games have always had an overtime then shootout as someone mentioned earlier.
Second, the 3v3 format MASSIVELY favored Canada. The open ice lets them exploit their speed and talent, which is far better, and the US would typically fare better in 4/5 on 4/5 and hope for the greasy goal.
Canada started OT with the 3 best players and best skaters in the world. US has two guy with one name who can really skate out there.
Go eat your syrup ya dumb Canucks.
I am curious on what is considered gloating? One side is whining, the other is gloating. Neither is a good look.
They should have wanted the 3 vs 3 and the open ice. They had the top 3 scorers in the NHL out there. They had a distinct advantage in this situation. USA's game is more defensive as we had the top defense men and goalie.I'm not commenting on either team. I'm stating that a game of this magnitude -- for Olympic gold--should not be decided by a 3 on 3 OT. As in Stanley Cup final, should be decided in extra regular periods until there is a winner. That's how the rules should be set up period.
If I appear to be happy that the US won the gold over our RIVALS and appear to be "gloating", which I am, then I am guilty as charged. I thought that part of being a sports fan was "gloating" when your team beats their rivals. Some people need to put a rubber band around their head and snap out of it. U.S.A., U.S.A. God Bless the U.S.A.!I am curious on what is considered gloating?
he is making it sound like the USA team was gloating...weird take...but even fans- there isn't much "gloating" it is excitement. If I appear to be happy that the US won the gold over our RIVALS and appear to be "gloating", which I am, then I am guilty as charged. This is very cool, and please stop with the bickering. The entire team is coming to the State of the Union address. That is a very nice gesture by the President. And nobody cares how anyone here feels about the President either way. It is a nice gesture, and the team seems elated to be invited.
Yes, because they had scheduling conflicts:5 members didn't go.
He also made a damn fool of himself like always- making the joke about how he would now have to invite the women's team. The guy just doesnt know how to keep his trap shut.5 members didn't go.
Would much rather a 3v3 than a penalty shootout - same with soccer.I'm not commenting on either team. Don't know what you are talking about-this is the text of what PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP said:He also made a damn fool of himself like always- making the joke about how he would now have to invite the women's team. The guy just doesnt know how to keep his trap shut.
I think he’s talking about the locker room phone call with the team through Kash Patel’s phone, where he joked about “having to” invite the women’s team as well and how he‘d “be impeached” if he didn’t.Don't know what you are talking about-this is the text of what PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP said:
"But they beat a fantastic Canadian team in overtime, as everybody saw, as did the American women who will soon be coming to the White House. They were in the Oval Office before, and I just want to say a second, very big congratulations to Team USA."
Absolutely nothing wrong with what he said. Please find another thread to be outraged. This was a feel good moment for the two hockey teams.

Yeah, whatever. It seemed to be an off the cuff, playful remark.I think he’s talking about the locker room phone call with the team through Kash Patel’s phone, where he joked about “having to” invite the women’s team as well and how he‘d “be impeached” if he didn’t.
But regardless, the hyper-partisan reaction to just about everything (BOTH SIDES) is getting really tiresome.
Thank you..facts matterDon't know what you are talking about-this is the text of what PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP said:

So then not ALL went. Interesting that at least 4 are from Minnesota and there were 5 in total on the roster from Minnesota.Yes, because they had scheduling conflicts:
All five cited scheduling conflicts with their NHL clubs. The NHL season resumed right after the Olympics (with games on Wednesday, February 25/26, 2026, following the three-week Olympic break). They returned to their teams for preparation, practices, and family time instead of traveling to Washington.Examples from reports:
No other reasons (e.g., political) were reported by the players, USA Hockey, or news outlets—USA Hockey did not comment further. The absences were purely logistical due to the tight turnaround between the Olympics (gold medal win over Canada on Feb. 22) and NHL resumption.(Note: The entire U.S. women's Olympic hockey team also declined their invitation to the SOTU, citing post-Games academic and professional commitments, but they were handled as a separate group invitation and not part of the "players who did not go" count in men's team coverage.)
- Kyle Connor was skating with the Jets to prep for their Wednesday game.
- Brock Nelson went back to Denver to be with family ahead of the Avalanche's game.
- Jake Oettinger, Jake Guentzel, and Jackson LaCombe were already back in Dallas, Tampa, and Southern California, respectively, ahead of their teams' schedules.
No they don't. I learned that on the CE board years ago. That's why I don't go there anymore.Thank you..facts matter
Its actually better now since we bring factsNo they don't. I learned that on the CE board years ago. That's why I don't go there anymore.
Who cares and why is it interestingSo then not ALL went. Interesting that at least 4 are from Minnesota and there were 5 in total on the roster from Minnesota.
Not sure of the point of belaboring this? 5 players had conflicts. A lot of hockey players are from Minnesota. They had NHL games to play.So then not ALL went. Interesting that at least 4 are from Minnesota and there were 5 in total on the roster from Minnesota.
Ouch
That’s awesomeThe video does not show how loud it really was in the place. My wife was out in the concourse when it happened and was surprised how loud it was. I was at my seat and was amazed.
You kind of sound unAmericanThat's funny. Americans asking Canadians for some humility.![]()
