If I had to pick a guy to have a rough start, it might be McDuffie. He showed so much competitiveness and toughness last year, I just have every confidence that he will figure it out.

Hope he rights the ship soon, though. There will be a lot of close games in ACC play, and he will be needed!

Wouldn’t mind seeing Rose and Holiday more (thought Holiday got squeezed on Saturday)

A rare Forbes comes to the mound and does not pull the pitcher, Rose stays in. Productive 1st inning for him but running into a bit of trouble on base paths here

I love reading your opinions. Do you think this is just a sophomore slump he can get out of, or are you concerned?
Like I said, even when he’s good his fastball and changeup are mostly non competitive. I think he’ll be fine because the slider is so good. As whole staff they need to find the zone early and often.

Hull just looks so good in the box, sees everything deep. Really think he’ll end up a .300 hitter.
Haven’t had a chance to watch the last 2 games but I know he had a great game yesterday. Is he still pulling off of everything or is he keeping that front shoulder a bit more closed on the ABs where he has been driving the ball? Felt like he was drifting hard towards first base on almost every swing the first couple weeks.

The talent is certainly there and the fact he was in the 3 hole on opening day gives me lots of hope for the type of year he can have.

It’s not really his shoulder that’s coming out, his front foot doesn’t stay closed long enough. His swing is very inside-out. Which is fine, but it isn’t going to produce a ton of pull side power.

Couldn’t agree more. This has been an issue at the end of year too. It’s like they’re trying to be so perfect with pitches and corners but at the college level, they’re not as dial so we see a lot of ball nowhere near the zone. Those are too easy to take for hitters.

Man, Paulson looked great at the plate today! I wonder if he’ll bring that competitiveness when he gets his opportunity on the mound!
