probably not a popular opinion, but to me NYC is a microcosm of the American electoral system. Some personable person promises a lot of things to the electorate and they are not savvy enough to understand the finances surrounding the promises. So after the election the expected results from the promises don't happen or don't happen as exactly as the voters believed they would and regret sets in.

You can carry this concept from local to state to federal levels.

So now what happens?

I would suggest that NYC and the needs of millions of people living in 12 square miles might require a more social based government. All in that city need for the government to supply a lot of their basic needs such as street cleaning, trash pickup, and many other daily needs.

I dunno, Ned. If it was here, I’d say it’s time for another failed California recall election; not sure how NYC will react. @nytigerfan seems knowledgeable, he may know.

I’ve never been to Daytona lol but this is my dream vaca …

Sh!!thole retards

Mamdani said today that it looked like kids having a snowball fight. In order for it to be a “snowball fight”, needs to be reciprocal… I don’t see a single officer having a good time and participating. This was clear assault on an officer, but Mamdani says there shouldn’t be charges.

I personally believe the law enforcement in NyC should give Mamdani exactly what he wants. Go on strike.

Watching it made my blood boil but I read it started because the officers showed up to break up their organized snowball fight but that still doesn't make it right. It's not ok to treat good cops that way.

I personally believe it's too soon for a recall push. There's still a way for all this to play out assuming the state government sees the fall of NYC as impacting the governor's election. Hochul, who endorsed Mamdani, has a stake in his success. So she might feel the obligation to support him via some higher taxes - but only in a calculated way.

One thing's for sure Mamdani can't raise property taxes by 9.5%. If he does, there might be a revolution in the city.

Don't particularly like him. Anybody who bases their opinion of New York off piecemeal **** they see on the internet about a city of 10 million plus people is a retard.

I was in NYC last week and it was exactly the same as it was the last 10 times I went.

You are trying way to hard here. One person's feelings doesn't make it a broad opinion.

NYC is a different animal than most other places in America.
Whatever dude. My IRA accounts are getting Fat and happy from NYer's buying down here. I hate it, but it is what it is. Don't tell me its the same, cause it aint brother! I got firsthand stories from lots of folks!

A recall? Lol. Mamdani is wildly popular in NYC. Mamadani is floating the property tax increase to pressure the governor to raise income taxes on the wealthy.

Oh I believe that....but he still has a $5 billion hole in his budget, as of this moment. He has no capability to fill in and is 100% dependent on Hochul and the state legislature. Is the democrat establishment going to raise those taxes in an election year? Maybe...she has said no, so she needs to do the political two step and put her own credibility on the line. I guess we'll see

Nassau County born and raised. Graduated HS in 1991 and went to Clemson. I took his advice and never looked back.

Like most enormous cities, NYC tries to be everything to everyone. You can only pull it off for a period of time and then it gets ugly.
