Transformer blowing all over southern Monmouth county. One in front of my house blew. JCPL was on site quickly and repaired. Had power for 15 minutes and blew again.
Many without power in Brielle/Wall/Manasquan.
Damn, that sucks. How bad are the winds there so far?

Our snowblower is exactly 4 inches from the garage door, and I have left it running, so it growls like a snow watch dog. I hope we don't die from carbon monoxide poisoning.

--That was a joke---I have done stupider things than what I said above, and I have lived.
BTW KS, not snowing here in Phoenix at the pool bar. And Sedona was pretty nice last week. Have a (snow) ball!

Yeah I heard about that. I believe one was on or close to Rt 71 3-4 blocks south of Main St between 5:30 and 6:00

Linden, everything covered even a fairly busy street, has to be a few inches of snow already.

She's doing the Jamie O'Brien school. It sounds like the cove/bay they use is chill and good for beginners. We shall see! We are doing it early in the trip, so if she loved it, we can did it again.

Regardless, we will spend 2 days on the North Shore, so plenty of time to watch the pros if pipeline and the other spots are firing.
That time of year it would be highly unusual to see the waves in the area firing. All the action is on the southshore and some select east spots that pretty secluded/secretive.

JOB is great. No idea how his school is but he's been a mainstay at Pipe for years. Dude rips.

As of 6 pm, we have 2.5" of snow, so another 1" last hour it's snowing at moderate+ whatever that is. Temp still 31F. Very pretty snow coating everything including the trees since the first inch or so was pretty wet and it stuck, despite ~15 mph winds with gusts to 20-25 mph now.
As of 7 pm, we have 4.0" of snow, so 1.5" last hour as it's been snowing close to heavily (not crazy heavy, but visibility maybe 3/8 of a mile). Temp still 31F. Just finished my first shoveling and it wasn't too bad - bottom snow layer was wet but snow falling now is somewhat drier, but still packs.

As of 8 pm, 5.25" in Metuchen and it's still 31F; snowing close to heavily but radar is showing a couple of SW to NE oriented bands moving NW towards us, which look really heavy, like maybe 2" per hour heavy.

Holy crap, if the latest HRRR is correct, areas east of the Turnpike are likely to hit those 18-24" forecasts from the NWS and the coast areas are likely to hit 24-30". Just saw a report of 9" in Colts Neck and 7" in Staten Island. Even the folks NW of a line from New Hope to Morristown to SE parts of Warren/Sussex, who might have 2-4" would get another 6-10" to get to 10-15" or so.

Also, that's a 10:1 map, so amounts could be at least 20% higher given expected 12:1+ ratios for the 2nd half of the storm.

I’m in southern Union County, we have about 2-3 inches on the ground . It’s snowing moderately and pretty windy. I know it’s still early and would anticipate this is going to ramp up in the next few hours, but this seems like it’s not going to be anywhere near a “historic blizzard”. I remember the big storms of 1978, 1983, 1996, 2010 and 2016. Thus far this isn’t close to those storms. After all the hype, if we don’t get at least 15-18 inches of blowing heavy snow in my area, I think the NWS did a really bad job of predicting this.

Where are you again? I think this thing is just getting started and performing as predicted. I think it’ll ramp up for sure, but I hope you’re right.

Howell reporting in 6" to 7" at 8:40 pm. Measured in a few spots best estimate I could come up with. It's not under preforming in this area, so far. With the wind whipping I'm not making the same mistake as last time and shoveling early just to have the wind fill it back in.

I think some of us have been in some of the subsidence for a bit and that line from my area with about 3 although its snowing moderately now has extended up near his area matching up with southern Union

it seems like everytime a band tries to approach my area it disspates and hits a brickwall only to see another grow to south and do the same thing

the heavy bands are supposed to pivot up through ny and down through pa and central jersey as the low deepens and sits and spins
