I'm not a huge hockey fan but that was exciting start to finish. That's not easy to say about a game where there were on 2 scores in regulation. The USA killing that 5 on 3 penalty. Canada overcoming a USA 4 minute advantage.

Goalies are part of a team. Sometimes, you need your goalie to win a game all by himself. Canada probably played their best game of the tournament today, and it looked like the US had run out of gas; I thought that the US would play better. However, the US is now 2-1 against Canada since last February, and the loss was in OT when the US and especially Matthews had numerous chances to score the winner, but Binnington basically stole that game for Canada.Yeah, he stole that game
And a total population of 6 millionMeanwhile, Norge has 18 gold medals and 41 total medals. Impressive.

I thought the same thing. All schools should play President Kennedy’s Inauguration Speech constantly in which he said “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.” We need to begin again to instill a sense of pride in being a citizen of this country and shun the pieces of garbage who are trying to destroy the foundations of this country, and I’m glad that Hughes expressed that.Jack Hughes during the post game interview, "I'm proud to be an American". He said it three separate times. How refreshing is that after some others use the platform to comment on political views? Atta boy Jack!

Werenski to Hughes for the win.Hughes to Hughes for the win and Jack Hughes minus two front teeth thanks to a high stick!
Why stop there?Or they could go to one of the sources and have them read some Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr..
Say you didn’t watch the game without saying you didn’t watch the game. Our NHL players beat their NHL players. If that is some sort of source of pride for you, that's fine.

Later in the broadcast I heard someone (I don’t know who) say “we’re not playing for ourselves, we’re playing for our country”. Great stuff!I thought the same thing. I did watch it- just didn't care who wonSay you didn’t watch the game without saying you didn’t watch the game.
I assume you would have been one of the Canadians booing Esposito in the summit series.
Great win today but not comparable to 1980. The team that won in Lake Placid had 4 minor league players with minimal experience. The rest were amateurs.Do you believe in miracles? Yes!
The Norwegians also have the most total medals in the history of the winter Olympics. And a total population of 6 million
Considering that the US is 2-1 against Canada since last February, and the US is stocked with a bunch of NHL All Star caliber players, including players who recently have won the Norris and Vezina Trophys and scored over 60 goals in a season, of course it wasn’t the same as 1980, and that’s why I got irritated by people who know nothing about hockey continuing to reference 1980.Great win today but not comparable to 1980. The team that won in Lake Placid had 4 minor league players with minimal experience. The rest were amateurs.

Of their 41 total medals this year, 28 are in cross-country skiing or involve cross-country skiing.

Hats off to them …but it’s many multiple iterations of a niche sport. And one of those iteration is equal to USA winning at hockey? I don’t think so!The Norwegians also have the most total medals in the history of the winter Olympics.

It wasn't a criticism or anything. Just praising his playGoalies are part of a team. Sometimes, you need your goalie to win a game all by himself. Now that there just are so many more kids playing hockey in this country from all over the country (I.e, Matthews is from Arizona, Trocheck and Miller played their youth hockey in Pittsburgh, and the Tkachuks played their youth hockey in St. Louis), Canada is going to have a tough time being better than the US in the future just because of the population difference and the raw numbers.
It’s not, but since it’s been since 1980 that we’ve won gold, it’s a pretty big deal. It was only 20 years between the win in 1980 and the previous one.Great win today but not comparable to 1980. The team that won in Lake Placid had 4 minor league players with minimal experience. The rest were amateurs.
If you saw the faces of the Canadian team getting their silver medal, you'd know it meant alot to them. Quite a bit of national pride on the line. Our NHL players beat their NHL players. If that is some sort of source of pride for you, that's fine.
They’re still Americans that are playing for their country. Our NHL players beat their NHL players. If that is some sort of source of pride for you, that's fine.
