When we hired Pope I knew it was a s**t hiring. I had several guys in mind. Notably. Bruce Pearl. Nate Oats. Hurley and RICK PITINO !!!! Yall think this team (different players) would be playing like this under Rick ? Who btw. Won 2 titles at UK. 98 was Ricks kids. What’d Tubby do when they were gone. Right ? That team was loaded with Ricks talent and they won the title. Hand it to Rick. And also. Idc about what he allegedly done at UL. Bros that happens everywhere he just got cause. lol. I mean prolly not at UK now cause we got this weirdo coach that comes from a school that (yeah I’m not going into that foolishness) smh. But Pearl or Oats or Pitino would win 9 within 3-4 years. Dude....not one person on here wanted Mark Pope as the Head Coach. Some people just gave him a chance. Some say one bad season isn't enough to fire a man for. The folks (like you) who would fire him for one bad year scream louder every time we lose. MB isn't firing him so the optimistic side of the board is resigned to pulling for him. But I don't remember one person calling for Pope. Quit pretending you were the only one
Pope is getting a 3rd season whether you disgruntled fans like it or not! And 10 games into next season, us pumpers are going to demand a 4th, because we finally have a coach who is as big of a loser as we are, and he helps us relate to other losers! Now, be gone with you hot takes!

Didn’t read the majority of this. Pope beat Rick this year. Big East is trash. His record is padded.
I wanted to believe in Pope. He did a great job last year by getting portal recruits and transfers after Cal f'd us taking the roster. There was not overwhelming pressure on Pope given the circumstances. But then he started whiffing on the elite talent much more noticeably as we expected Kentucky to return to being the Blue Blood historical program we all have loved. His deficits have became clear and now of great concern.
I want to add and wonder how many here will admit that when I and others said (before the Pope hire) to pursue "Pearl" a lot of responses were negative. Now we would crawl on our knees to get him. I say we should initiate secret negotiations after the season and pay whatever it takes. Otherwise pay whatever it takes to get the guys like Stokes and ideally do both things.
