I tuned out 5 minutes into the 2nd half. I was pulling for Pike to right this ship but I can’t defend him anymore. I convinced myself that this young team was showing signs and with NIL from Zinn’s efforts the other pieces could be pulled in next year to get to the middle of the pack. If this team (just this team this year) was headed in the right direction they would have won this game - a more opposite result is not earthly possible and I can’t blame anybody but the coaches. It’s time to move on. Unfortunately that also means finally moving on from the basketball world we all enjoyed and turning to the world of a constant revolving door of kids. Whether RU can even pull that off is highly debatable. Alas, it’s very possible that the idea of basketball success at RU is finally dead.

Unfortunately, we've already moved to that world.

I totally agree. I have lost patience with Pike. I give him the benefit of the doubt that our NIL is lacking and without a GM until only recently, he was at a disadvantage, but that doesn’t excuse how this team is currently performing.

His lineups are atrocious. The effort is lacking. The growth has stagnated.

I can stomach losses when we make our opponents earn it, but today’s loss was embarrassing. 57.7% 3-pt shooting percentage from Minny?! They saw our flaws and exploited it and we did nothing.

RUbball is not dead. But we need to start the ressurection. Overpay for a name brand coach add NIL and we can be back. Biggest obstacle right now is Kelli Zinn not realizing coaching is a major issue, even more than NIL money.

Rutgers is No. 76 in offensive efficiency over the last 10 games and No. 80 since Jan. 1. That's like in the ballpark of the 2020 and 2021 teams. We are unquestionably at the bottom of the conference in NIL, but I sort of question how significant the talent deficit is.

We were told this is a team that was supposed to get back to defense, Pike designed the roster as such, and I don't really understand why it can't be better. Hell, if you combined the defensive efficiency from Pike's first season, where he had absolutely no autonomy over the roster, with this year's current offense (last 10 games), we'd be playing like a fringe bubble team.

Reality is Minnesota coaching staff did an excellent job reading the scouting report and just exploited all our weaknesses. Run zone all game, take and make the wide open 3, and get Ogbole to guard the 3 and dump it inside.

Pike and staff unfortunately totally failed in scouting report, it’s like they literally didn’t know Minny had 6 players and was coming off a 2 game road stand west coast. Pathetic.

Was listening to Sullivan on a podcast this week. The way he was talking, it sure sounds like Coach Pike will have another season.

Of course he will Too much $ owed and even if it was less this is RU where mediocrity is acceptable to a fault. Players by coaches and coaches by admin. oh and a great deal of our fans.

and no. I'm not paying for it and that excuse as I've already shared my stories of trying to give the athletics program a good amount of cash... besides, they have plenty if they had a clue how to save some, spend it, and create more.

It took me decades ( I have been a Rutgers sports fan since 1976), but in the past 18 months or so, I finally realized that Rutgers won’t or can’t compete in the highest levels of college sports. Fortunately, I still have major schools my nephews went to ( Villanova, Florida, and Clemson) to root for. Also, adopted Tennessee , a school that takes every sport seriously. It isn’t just about wins and losses. Even if you swing and miss from time to time , you have to at least swing.

I know you did and that speaks volumes. As a 1977 guy I can relate ...
