Rivera definitely wasn't as bad as McGowan, but, he certainly wasn't wrestling to win either. Good job by Marcus to find his way to the major.
By my count (which will need some proofing before the story goes up next week) that is the 49th match a Penn State wrestler either won in SV/TB this year OR scored late to add an extra team point.

I’m guessing he is really hurting after getting hit by the car as Byers said. I think Corby mentioned it as well. But if it is that bad, forfeit or put in #2. But gusty to wrestle anyway
McGowan got hit by a car in fall 2023. Guessing around Sept 2023, since this article says it was 18 mo before the 2025 Ivy League Tournament.

BTW, we recruited him. PSU was in his finalist list.

I’m gonna make one more plug then congratulate them after. I usually give the student announcers a chance and then switch to Byers when they didn’t deserve it. These young men know wrestling, know the wrestlers, and are doing a heck of a job. It’s quite good.

Braeden is a very talented wrestler. He is good enough to challenge anyone not named Mendez. That said, he is clearly not in top condition and we are running out of time. He is gassed halfway through most of his matches. I really like him and I'm hoping for the best, but, it's a legit concern at this point.

Are all of Davis' opponents going to try to bait him into losing his temper going forward? Extra shoves out of bounds, repeated head shots at the end there as well. Starting to seem like strategy at this point.

It's officially an issue now for Braeden and gassing. Almost out of time to fix it so maybe a strategy change for March?
Think maybe he needs to manage his weight better. He’s had time to get in good shape now. Lets hope h peaks at the big ten tournament and Nationals.

That was awful close to a stall and TD and 11-11

His Neutral Defense and position awareness in Neutral is, and always has been, really bad. How do you give up a Body Lock (i.e., Bear Hug) takedown to an unranked wrestler??? How do you lack the Neutral positional awareness to give up a move like that to an unranked wrestler? How many times did Mendez take him directly feet-to-back in Neutral???

If we absolutely needed points from Davis to win at Nationals, I'd consider pulling Desmond's shirt. However, we don't need his points, so, I don't think it is worth pulling the shirt. I'll defer to Cael to handle it. :)

Love to see SVN hit more duck unders and slide bys. Guys easily defend his shots when he’s going for bonus points.

Braeden has about 16 more days which isn't a lot of time. Let's hope he's been training through the matches to prepare for the post season. Just need him to qualify for nationals.

At this time is he considered a lock? Maybe a few wins a big tens?
