Six seed would be unlikely but amazing.
Last nite Duke dbag Seth davis said before the game the hawks were in precarious position, then after he said they still are not outta woods
.
That said hope get PSU and OSU wins and make it to 21-10.

I think pretty much as long as Iowa doesn't lose out, they get in. I'm hoping for at least 21-22 wins, realistically. The two you mentioned, then maybe another win or two in the BTT would be great. I haven't written off a win in Madison this weekend, though. Wisconsin won't be easy but they're beatable. ;)

There should be a rule that Iowa is never again allowed to be an 8/9 seed.

We already had that enough in the Tom Davis era.

BTW, a few fun facts. With one more win, the 25-26 team will become the 32nd group in program history to win at least 20 games. The hope is that this begins another run of 20+ win seasons, of which the record stands at 5 having happened in three separate stretches. Once under Lute Olson, once in the transition from the George Raveling era to the Tom Davis era, and then again in the latter stages of the Tom Davis era. The most Fran had was 4 on a couple occasions.

For those wondering about the dreaded 8/9 game, Iowa has had the misfortune of being seeded there 4 times in its 29 appearances in the NCAA Tournament, three times as an 8 seed (1985, 1997, 2023), and once as a 9 (1992). Iowa is 2-2 in those games.

Their most-played seed line/game is actually as a 7 seed and in the 7/10 game. They've been a 7 seed five times (1983, 1991, 2001, 2015, 2016), and a 10 seed twice (2005, 2019), with a record of 6-1 in those games.

Barring an unexpected win against UW, Michigan , or Nebraska I can’t see Iowa getting off that 8/9 line. Maybe 7 just based on other teams. Might be wishing on selection Sunday that Iowa has fallen to a 10 seed.

Is Iowa about to join UConn?

A 7 seed has won the men's basketball national championship once in NCAA tournament history. UConn achieved this feat in 2014, defeating Kentucky to win the title. They were the first 7-seed to reach the Final Four and subsequently win the championship.

8 or 9 seed and Duke in 2nd round? Sounds like a Tom Davis special...deja vu all the way around. Of course, rather be a 7/10 seed or keep winning and bump up even higher. OSU is one of first teams out and will be very hungry coming into Carver tomorrow night!

Yeah, that's going to be a tough game tomorrow. Definitely wouldn't crush my dreams if Iowa slipped to a 10 seed and got out of that 8/9 situation. I'd rather they climb to a 7 then drop to a 10, though. ;)

Ohio State's (17-10, 9-7) last 3 games have been against ranked opponents. They beat Wisconsin by 17 & kept it close vs current #11 Virginia and at current #13 Michigan State.

Call me crazy but first, let's get in
Then give me the best seed possible.
8 is fine...will give us a better chance to win one.
Anybody really think we could be better off facing a 7 seed, then a 2 seed if we get an upset in round one?
If this team gets in, wins one and loses to Duke that would be hugely overachieving season.
That's very important 1st step in building a real sustainable program.
Ben wants a group of players who can all shoot, drive and guard their position.
That is going to take 3-4 years.

The scores are reflective of opponents' defense, but also of Theee Ohio State's as well. Cavaliers (66 points) and Sparty (60 points). In the Wisky game, they held them to 69 points, a team that's averaging 83. We're allowing 76/Game, which is too high for how we should be defending, and the pace of play that benefits us the most. If we can't limit possessions with our defense, and continue to struggle with lack of contributions from some of our players on offense aside from Bennett, then we're setting ourselves up for failure. Defend them tomorrow with all of their might, and hopefully get more production across the board on offense from the others, and we may come out the victor.

Hope I am wrong but I think this is going to be a very difficult game; not sure if people realize how good Ohio State is.
