I did not mind a foul there, VT had an open cutter in transition. Nivar stopped the ball. But yeah it was totally a foul.Omg Nivar almost blew the game she totally fouled them
Why weren’t all of our players around the 3 point line? CrazyWhy guard them in the paint? Go out to the 3 pt line
Why didn’t we just foul and avoid a 3-pt attempt lol?Why weren’t all of our players around the 3 point line? Crazy
She makes me call on JESUS at least three times per game!wtf are you doing nivar
Good luck! Not really our theme right now. I suggest a good adult beverage.I would really like to watch a stress free basketball game. Men's or women's.
Please lord let Harping be our possession guard savior.
If you got a busy signal that was my fault. She makes me call on JESUS at least three times per game!
I know she does a ton of positive things pushing the ball and getting steals, but my hope is that Harpring brings better decision making and efficiency. If that happens replacing Nivar next season won’t be as hard. She makes me call on JESUS at least three times per game!
CB has UNC routinely punching at or above its historical weight in a sport that's significantly more top-heavy than MBB. I don't think she's perfect and like I've said before, I think there is a pretty wide spectrum of reasonable opinions to have about her - but putting her in the same sentence as people like Davis and Belichick is simply asinine.Grateful for a win the Heels needed.
I view HD and CB in same light- wonderful people, admirable representatives for our university and treat their players as people, not interchangable parts. Yet both programs are stuck. . Neither has had a consistent offense in years, thought CB's team brings effort consistently. Other programs are moving past UNC in the conference and nationally. If we're not moving ahead, we're falling behind, The incoming administration must face either accepting the trend or making changes. Such is college athletics now.
Duly noted.CB has UNC routinely punching at or above its historical weight in a sport that's significantly more top-heavy than MBB. Agreed. And our offense is the best its been since our first S16 under Banghart in 2021. There is still room for improvement for sure.CB has UNC routinely punching at or above its historical weight in a sport that's significantly more top-heavy than MBB. I know you're propping up this current era of UNC WBB basketball as the one of the greatest ever but how you could forget mid to late 90s. From 94-99, Carolina won the national championship, 4 ACC tournament titles, 1 Elite, 3 Sweet 16s, and 1 ACC regular season title. They did missed the tournament in 1996 and that was the season the star PG/ track star Marion Jones didn't play because she was in the Olympics.Agreed. And our offense is the best its been since our first S16 under Banghart in 2021. There is still room for improvement for sure.
So far this year: 75 ppg
2024-2025: 69 ppg (S16)
2023-2024: 67 ppg
2022-2023: 69 ppg
2021-2022: 73 ppg (S16)
2020-2021: 75 ppg
2019-2020: 73 ppg
Everyone wants UNC to be at the top of basketball on the men's and women's side. I get that. I want that, too! But as they've pointed out, UNC wasn't always exactly an elite program except for the early 80s, the Ivory Latta days and a few pre-scandal years.. Banghart has UNC poised to go to the NCAA tournament for the sixth year in a row... something our program has only ever done ONCE before (a span of 10 from 2002-2011). She's only been to two S16 so far, but parity is also much different now than it was before.
Hubert can't get his team to play hard or be ready for a game. He continues to use the same excuse over and over. CB's team is rarely like that. Except for the first half of the VT game and the ND game, I rarely ever see this WBB program not competing or ready to play. I have my issues with how CB does thing, so I'm not here saying she's an amazing coach. But I would encourage others to look at the bigger picture, too, and not just the immediate thing in front of their face.
In my opinion, next year is the year that we are really going to figure out what CB's mark on this program is going to be (depending on transfers, etc.).
You have more posts than me and you're telling me to touch grass. You’re ridiculous if you think I’m propping this up as the greatest ever. You took my post and got that? You’re crazy. You are definition of reading something and blowing it way out of proportion. I’m not even completely sold on CB and you’re trying to make it sound like I am saying that… wow. Go argue with a brick wall next. I believe I heard it say nothing and you took offense to it. Good grief. Touch some grass. But I am pointing out that people seem to think our program has been “elite” forever until recently and that’s not true.
I definitely mixed up the national championship year wrong when I wrote that. I’ll own that, I got the wrong decade when I mentioned the 80s.
The recent uptick in team defense is creating movement in the team defense adjusted efficiency ratings. Torvik now has us ranked 10th nationally in defense:7 of 17 on layups.
16 of 19 on FTs is pretty awesome. Of course VT shot 100%. UNC now leads the ACC in opponent FT% at a whopping 80.4%. I guess we need to work on our FT defense?
35% from 3 is better than I thought. But 38% from 2 is
Nivar credited with 4 steals but I counted 6 caused TOs.
interesting stat from the TV today: Harris leads the ACC in paint points. But I will add that at only 47 attempts before today she is not even top 20 in FT attempts. Every single team in the ACC except BC has a player that attempted more FTs than Harris. That has to be a pretty rare combination.
ugly game, but UNc played great defense when not giving up transition points.
8 blocks by UNC, 7 by VT contributed to the ugly.
over the last 6 games, opponent scoring below their season average (in 40 min regulation):
average: - 16.8 ppg
- NCSU 59 - 78 = -19
- Clemson 44 - 70 = -26
- WF 56 - 66 = -10
- SMU 42 - 63 = -21
- dook: 68 - 76 = -8
- VT: 57- 74 = -17
