I'm very disappointed in the Yankees. I just read what every team in the AL East has done this off season. All the teams vastly improved themselves with great trades and signees. EXCEPT for the Yankees.

Why didn't the Yankees go after Bo Bichette?

I didn't post on that the other day as I'm not crazy about that. Maybe he can fill in at 1B once in a while and DH once Stanton goes down in the first few weeks like usual, but not worth the money we gave him.

Jazz talking big. Aiming for a 50-50 season. If he were to pull that off and everyone else plays their normal seasons we win the WS.

He has the talent for it but that would be an MVP season which his performance has never reached.

I now you had mentioned it some time ago but saw some Volpe discussion in the last week where they talked about his labrum tear being far worse than they had thought. His shoulder was an absolute mess when they went in to repair it. Let's hope that fully healthy he can be the player we thought he can be

I'm excited about Ben Rice this season. And I think Austin Wells will have a much more stable season at the plate.

Lots of "thinks" and "ifs" there but would only need a couple to happen once the pitching staff gets back to full health

Jazz hitting 50 homers would be incredible. Jazz trying to hit 50 homers is probably a receipt for disaster.
Problem with Jazz is he can't stay healthy. Volpe will miss the first month and I hope he doesn't put pressure on himself coming back late trying to do to much. I think a healthy Volpe will be fine. Lot of ifs on this team but we are due a season (or 3 or 3) without so many key injures. It's been a broken record for years now.

I still think the Yanks were surprised that Grish accepted the qualifying offer

I know I was shocked then and still am

A 1-year deal coming off far and away the best season of his career and an opportunity to get paid along with some term

Got some nice, unexpected, live arms showing up in the minors. Maybe the future is not so gloom in the pitching department.

This is one thing the Yanks minor league system has been doing a great job of for a while....finding guys with mechanical glitches or untapped upside and unlocking the problems resulting in big boosts in velocity

Cam has showed up to spring training throwing absolute gas. Cutter is up 2 mph to mid 90s and heater is popping.
Looks stronger than last year.

Shocking that the Yanks are gonna run it back with Ryan McMahon at third, when Bichette was available.

I would have loved....LOVED....Bichette's bat but he can't play 3rd worth a damn. He's a 2B all the way. Which means they would have had to ship off Jazz because his arm won't let him play 3rd anymore and there would still be a hole at 3rd.

For what its worth, McMahon apparently got with a swing coach in the offseason and changed his stance/swing. Reports are that he looks night and day difference at the plate....just ripping the ball.

His glove is top tier.

There's just not a lot of high-end 3rd basemen anymore. It's a big hole throughout the game.

Judge had a rough start. Only Yankee without a hit and struck out 4 times on a steady dose of change ups.

Not worried about Judge obviously.

And the Yanks scored 7....with no home runs. Just timely hitting. I'll take that all day long and twice on Sunday, HA

I thought Judge, having played in the WBC, would come out looking better than everyone else on the team but he looked lost, swinging at a steady dose of slow pitches. I thought it was funny that he was the only one without a hit.

Dingers from Judge and Big G yesterday…but more importantly Cam was almost unhittable

This pitching staff has the opportunity to be absolutely dominant once back to full health

I agree about the pitching staff and I think with their depth I would probably tinker with converting Gil to a closer.
