Funny, I thought I heard this too…i was told money wasn't going to be a problem, though
Rhule wouldn't ever lie would he?

Yeah, the money was not a problem...Rhule is though! HaFunny, I thought I heard this too…
I know the Rhule lovers will be like "Well, at least he is trying something new!"The only good thing about that take is that it is one take closer to this clown exiting here.
Man, why didn't we pony up and make it worth PSU's while to take this deadbeat off our hands?
You must have missed the part where he said it didn’t matter to him. There are plenty of other reasons to not like him as a coach but you’re reaching here.Good lord, this ******* guy.
Amazing that ever HS in America can practice at 3pm each day and things are just fine. But these finely tuned D1 players might need to be in the morning or the afternoon or early evening.
These ******* college coaches are getting insane.
If it didn't matter to him, he would not have changed it.You must have missed the part where he said it didn’t matter to him. There are plenty of other reasons to not like him as a coach but you’re reaching here.
Where does that leave us? F$cked.
Landing the *checks notes* #26 edge rusher and #221 overall player in Anthony Jones, #44 defensive lineman and #359 overall player in Jahsear Whittington, and #108 defensive lineman and #969 overall player in Owen Stoudemire from the transfer portal (per 247 rankings) really shows me how lucky we are to have such high caliber players come to this program. Bravo Phat Stewart! Brav-effing-O!
To make matters worse, here's the On3 ratings:
Anthony Jones - #39 edge, #395 overall
Jashear Whittington - #52 DL, #466 overall
Owen Stoudemire - #176 DL, #1624 overall
Don't you dare fukcing tell us we were lucky to get them. Literally pissing on us and telling us to be grateful for rain.
Who is young? These players are young
Going off portal Rankings is ridiculous at best
We had the 6th best portal class last year. How did that work out.
We got what we needed..you think an NFL draft pick is going to drop in the portal from a major school.....lol
I still don't trust Rhules do what firs it really matter.
Which is a good thing in my opinion.Who is young?
Owen Stoudemire is a 6th year senior.
Anthony Jones is a 5th year senior.
Jahsear is a 3rd year Sophomore.
They have a combined 11 years of collegiate experience before coming to Nebraska.
My comment is reference to Rhule's "we have the money to get any player we want" and "there are many players who want to come to Nebraska" and then we have Pat Stewart saying we did the best we could and "we're lucky to get what we got". We scraped the bottom of the barrel for the position that was arguably most devoid of talent last year. And THEN they have the audacity to tell us they liked what we had last year.
But anyways, who of those 3 is "young"? Because, none of them are.
I agree with you, but how was he able to do it at Temple and Baylor? Just different times and his way could work back then?
I would agree the experience would be good, if they weren’t borderline duds.Which is a good thing in my opinion.
Those are all really good points.Combination of a lot of things.
- Temple and Baylor are nowhere near the level NU is. They're middle rung programs. We're a f*ucking blue blood. Apples and oranges. And Rhule clearly isn't ready for our level.
- The game has passed him by. When every real college coach was learning portal and NIL, Rhule was failing miserably in the NFL, (speaking of not ready for that level). That puts him squarely several years behind everyone else.
- And speaking of the NFL, it probably broke him. Any shred of confidence he had in college was stripped from him when he got a taste of the real world. That level of comeuppance will humble most mortal people. Especially someone who's as all hat and no cattle as Rhule.
- Complacency. He's made so much money and he's that much older now. What does he have to stay motivated for? He's fat and happy. Age and complacency has a way of sneaking up on most people.
- All that mid level success was a mirage. Two good year threes and still managed to beat like one ranked team. He was never as good as most people thought he was.
Ohh $&it you're back with more of your gibberis.4-8 is truly the ceiling, isn't it?
The weird part was that even the national media ate that stuff up.I could never reconcile the disconnect between a guy touting himself as a "program builder" but has never been anywhere longer than 3 years.
Then I realized why. It was all bullsh!t.
1. I guess I don't see what difference it makes between beating crappy teams while at Baylor and beating crappy teams while at Nebraska? Somehow it's more difficult to beat the Minnesota's & Iowa's of the world than the Iowa St & Kansas St of the world?Combination of a lot of things.

I get what you're saying, but 3 guys don't make up the entire team.Who is young?
Owen Stoudemire is a 6th year senior.
Anthony Jones is a 5th year senior.
Jahsear is a 3rd year Sophomore.

You're getting a little off topic though. The topic is specifically about the defensive line portal additions. So the focus is solely on the DL, not the entire team. Besides, if being a young team is the problem that needed addressing (which we've heard for 3 years now "We have a young team, they're still learning how to win"), why did they acquire 10 underclassmen of their 15 additions last year, 5 underclassmen of their 9 additions in 2024, and 11 of 14 additions in 2023? It's also silly to add older guys for the sake of having older guys. Guys like Ty and Nash were good older guys because they were productive. Ty had more stats that all 3 of our new DL additions combined. Nash had more stats than Stoudemire and Whittington combined and Jones and Whittington combined.I get what you're saying, but 3 guys don't make up the entire team.
I'm too lazy to look it up, but are we a young team or no?
You're right. I misread the what was being said. You're getting a little off topic though. The topic is specifically about the defensive line portal additions. Besides those 3 new guys, we have:
Cam Lenhardt 4th year
Dylan Parrott 5th year
Sua Lefotu 4th year
Mason Goldman 4th year
Dylan Rogers (now a DE) 4th year
Conor Connealy 4th year
Mac Markway (TE to DE) 4th year
Gabe Moore 4th year
Landen Davidson 3rd year
Ethan Duda 3rd year
Willis McGahee 3rd year
Ashton Murphy 3rd year
Jordan Ochoa 3rd year
David Hoffken 3rd year
Williams Nwaneri 3rd year
That is 15 guys who were already on our roster draft eligible next spring. 15 guys who are 3rd year or more, AKA veterans and should be leaders of their room. We added 3 more older guys to a room that has quite a few now and they don't really bring much.
We will become the B1G's full-time fleshlight this year, no doubt.
its all good. we desperately need production from that group this year. You're right. I misread the what was being said.
Yeah, not young at that position.
It’s called throwing shiit on the wall and hoping it sticks. If it didn't matter to him, he would not have changed it.
"It doesn't matter to me" is what a guy says when it does matter to him but he know he sounds like a fool...or he is trying to get laid
We will become the B1G's full-time fleshlight this year, no doubt.
Nobody cares about Nebraska. What made us great was we were a winner who happened to be in the middle of nowhere, a small population, that really had nothing exceptional going on, but we had a couple of the greatest coaches of all time and a well built program. That is LONG gone...25 years gone. Just imagine Kansas Basketball not winning another thing from now until the year 2051 and still acting like they were a blue-blood in 2051, as if people should care. It MIGHT make sense for USC or Michigan, or OSU to do such a thing because the have the population base to quickly rebuild. On top of this. Kids don't care about teams anymore. They are likely to get us confused with Wisky or Northwestern...all that they know is the fans are a little redneck, Lincoln is boring as hell, and the girls are mid.Combination of a lot of things.

...dude
In the end, the good news is the B1G is flush with $$$ being distributed to conference members.
Dannen will have the resources to dump MR next winter.
That's IF Dannen doesn't get shiitcanned first.
At least you'll be in Eugene. Grab me some Pinot Noir.I broke for lunch and decided to check out what was going on and now I'm like seriously fired up... I just invested in flights, tickets and the Airbnb to watch the game in Eugene and now I'm questioning that decision... When will this team ever be remotely taken seriously again?
Why don't all you "so called" NU fans just get together and fire Rhule? Pay his buyout. Isn't that what you do? Chickenshits. Must be really young and used to instant gratification. It takes time to turn a ****-show around. If you hired JC, you'd be bitching within a year.
Love when newbies come on here fired up and look like idiots. Why don't all you "so called" NU fans just get together and fire Rhule? Pay his buyout. Isn't that what you do? Chickenshits. At this point in Rhule's tenure, it's funny to me when people act like *how* Rhule talks actually matters. I'm not sure why you pretend that if Rhule had a more upbeat tone, you'd change your mind on how his presser went.I watched them yesterday. I thought Rhule was genuinely sad about his defense changing. He did not seem more upbeat with his media time off. A bit concerning actually. The kids deserve a motivated head coach. It's a new season, new year.
Dana is a huge problem imo. He admits that it took him until the 6th game last year to figure out what EJ was good at. Nobody could punch it in last year because we don't have real running backs on the team. What did the staff do about it? Nothing, and Dana is pissed we are asking about running backs again. You're at NEBRASKA YOU STUPID DUCK. What the hell do you think the fans are going to ask you about???? This guy is a complete asshat.
New DC was more upbeat that the other coaches, but kind of afraid to talk to the media.. that sort of raised a red flag to me. I hope he knows what he is doing.
I came away more upset at the coaches than before the PC. The players deserve motivated, positive, forward looking coaches.. what I saw on the podium are 2 bozos that are not good at their jobs and they know that we know. Instead of doubling down and working harder to improve, what we get instead is attitude, and somehow, it's allowed. That's the part that really irks me. These multi-millionaires are not even going to try. UNGRATEFUL BASTARDS.
There is some Truth to that for sure... Body language tells the tail here and it sure feels like the last year of so many past failures... I'm sad for the players and I'm sad for the new coaches he brought in. Unless something drastically changes they very well could be a 1 year & out type of hire. How they keep that touted 27 class together will be the real canary in the coal mine both in getting them here and then actually keeping them long enough to make a differenceAt this point in Rhule's tenure, it's funny to me when people act like *how* Rhule talks actually matters. I'm not sure why you pretend that if Rhule had a more upbeat tone, you'd change your mind on how his presser went.
Would probably actually complain about it. "Why is Rhule all upbeat. That loser acts like everything is going great, but he sucks..."
