No it isn't. He will certainly get fired if he doesn't win and win quick. There is a new sheriff in town.As others have stated here, Schiano will never get fired from Rutgers and that’s known nationally. I still say he will outlast the AD no matter what.
Unfortunately, The Man who run this board says he will stay until he retires or whenever he says so.No it isn't. He will certainly get fired if he doesn't win and win quick. There is a new sheriff in town.
Disagree. Another year or two of mediocrity, and he is probably let go.As others have stated here, Schiano will never get fired from Rutgers and that’s known nationally. I still say he will outlast the AD no matter what.
Based on having dinner with Keli I'd say that's most certainly inaccurate.Unfortunately, The Man who run this board says he will stay until he retires or whenever he says so.![]()
ThisKeli and the Pres come from LSU. She needs to show results to get funds so GS is very much on the hot seat if we do not have a successful year this season. We already have a successful coach in waiting as well.
I’d suggest you tell that to the influencer guy here who runs this place and keeps saying that this is Schiano’s job and the AD has no say.Based on having dinner with Keli I'd say that's most certainly inaccurate.
That may have been the way it was when Hobbs was the AD, but I doubt that to be the case now. President Tate will not stand for sustained mediocrity or worse through 2030. If need be, he can step in and fire Greg.I’d suggest you tell that to the influencer guy here who runs this place and keeps saying that this is Schiano’s job and the AD has no say.
Hard not to think Keli didn't have a sizeable role in shaking up and bringing in a defensive staff with no real ties to Schiano and, on paper, appears very promising. Not the same tired, incompetent retreads like Smith, et al. I am hopeful Keli's fingerprints on key decisions will continue.

The AD handpicked by the President most certainly has a say. He must never have sat down and talked to her.I’d suggest you tell that to the influencer guy here who runs this place and keeps saying that this is Schiano’s job and the AD has no say.
6 or more games would buy him more time and Keli more time to fundraise. It would be ideal. She’s doing incredible work on that front. The B1G allowing sponsors on jerseys is going to be a big win for her/Rutgers.I’d say he bought himself some time provided the defense improves and we win at least 6 next season. He’s not getting fired if that threshold is met. It’d be shocking.
Would not be shocking to many people. Tate and Zinn have raised the bar.I’d say he bought himself some time provided the defense improves and we win at least 6 next season. He’s not getting fired if that threshold is met. It’d be shocking.
This. I think Schiano is going to get just enough rope. It would be naive to think that what Cignetti has done at Indiana hasn't been a topic of discussion. All money dependent and how fast Keli can raise it. She gets her whale, GS will be gone at first chance if he continues losing. Keli is a realist. She knows Schiano has had to raise funds himself which is far less than ideal. Regardless of how poor of a coach he is, he has been operating from a harder position. Keli will give him grace, collect funds, let him hang himself, then do what she's been dying to do her whole career. Hire her football coach.
It's entirely preposterous to say he will be her until he doesn't want to be should he keep losing. There isn't one fanbase in the country that would accept that, even the only one that would hire Greg Schiano.
I actually agree with youThe AD handpicked by the President most certainly has a say. He must never have sat down and talked to her.
Once again, the season turns on winnable games against beatable B1G opponents. They took the collar in those games last season (should have won 2 of them).Would not be shocking to many people. Tate and Zinn have raised the bar.
UMass, BC, and Howard are must wins. A loss to BC will be a huge problem for Greg's future.
The most winnable B1G games are: Maryland, Mich State, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Northwestern
Probable B1G losses are: Penn State, Michigan, USC, Indiana--
If Greg can't notch 4 wins between the first B1G group and the second group to get to 7 wins, that is pretty pathetic in year 7.
Over under of 5.5 wins seems like the most likely Vegas line. Four of our most winnable games being on the road doesn’t help.Once again, the season turns on winnable games against beatable B1G opponents. They took the collar in those games last season (should have won 2 of them).
The absolute best case scenario is that they sweep the OOC games, take all 5 winnable B1G games, and beat a retooling Penn State to get to 9.
The worst case scenario is that they lose to BC, lose 3 from the winnable group, and lose all of the games against Penn State, Michigan, USC, and Indiana to wind up 4-8.
The likely scenario is that they sweep the OOC, get 3 from the winnable group, and lose to Penn State, Michigan, USC, and Indiana to go 6-6.

yup, I said as much on the RT a while ago to the same.I actually agree with you.
But I’ve been told I’m wrong and called a scumbag by others for not swallowing the kool aid 24/7.
we get the 3 ooc wins imho, I do not see 3 BIG wins with defense and offense breaking in a new QB and losing strong. the offense will not put up last years numbers. would be amazing if they do but the odds are against it.Once again, the season turns on winnable games against beatable B1G opponents. The thing that will really move the needle and bring in more fans is a 10-2 season. 9-3 or 8-4 will keep the more restless natives at bay.Keli noted in a recent interview the declining SHI attendance. The likely scenario LotusAggressor posted is not going to move the needle to bring in more fans, and may hasten the exit of more season ticket holders. Should this happen, it may make sense to take the hit, and spark some new hope with a new coach, with increased ticket sales footing the bill.
Every 5,000 Seats lost costs Rutgers at least about $2M in lost ticket sales.
In years past, would have never thought about missing a home game. Now, I see some activities out West on the same weekend as the Indiana game. It's a no brainer to skip the Indiana game, sell our tix and parking pass, and avoid the torture of a beatdown. The thing that will really move the needle and bring in more fans is a 10-2 season. 9-3 or 8-4 will keep the more restless natives at bay.
Keli won't be keeping Schiano once she has the funds to replace him with someone she feels can make Rutgers more competitive with the top programs6 or more games would buy him more time and Keli more time to fundraise. Agreed. The way I see it Greg is safe this year with 6 wins. But that is the last 6 win season where he will be “safe”. Kelli and Tate, when they say “win” don’t mean 6 games a year. The mean B1G championships and a much higher floor and higher ceilings.Keli won't be keeping Schiano once she has the funds to replace him with someone she feels can make Rutgers more competitive with the top programs
Your scenario of 6 games is probably on the money , which would give her more time to find buyout funds instead of
firing Greg before the money was there to dump him and hire a HC Zinn felt could move RU FB towards elite status.
I like Greg's ability to improve a bad program, but I feel he can't make a program great, just able to build a pretty good one that fights for a place in the middle of pack.
Rutgers now needs someone capable of making the program capable of reaching the top.

Another weak season for Ryan Day????? He went to the college football playoff last year and won the National Championship the year before. I don't see any weak seasons thereIs that graphic just for this year? I don't know if Ryan Day is "Ice Cold" if he has another weak season. I also dont know why Deion Sander is "Hot" unless its a health issue. He just signed a big contract in 2025 and the new AD likes him a lot - said he's building around him. With Sanders health issues he has a better chance of dying in that job than getting fired
