They need to just come and say, and guess they pretty much did, that Quaintance is not playing here anymore. But he will gladly work out for NBA teams pre draft. After the Sharpe incident and actually during it, it pissed me off seeing him on the bench. Feeling the same about this whole deal and disappointed that Pope is ok with it. Send him home. Let his agent pay for his rehab.

At this point, if JQ chooses not to play, he should be let go. A step further than that...If he hasn't signed to return next season...cut him loose now. He is serving no purpose at all to the team and might be a detriment at this point. I get it if he plans to enter the draft but that doesn't affect us unless he might come back to here...period.

If Kam comes back it will be NcAa tournament and he would be rusty...so probably not much help.

I believe JQ is injured. His last two games he played he could hardly jump any real height or explosiveness...hence he wasn't any good. Not sure why you would want to sit after those two showings. His draft stock is dropping, and I wouldn't take him lottery...so everybody here with theories he is sitting on purpose doesnt make sense to me.

I could see him dropping to 2nd round and just returning to college.

Oddly, I don't see nearly the number of people asking for JQ to be told to leave the program as we did with Sharpe.

People are still pissed about Sharpe and are painting this kid with the same brush. He wasn't ready to return and reinjured his knee and none of you orthopedist on here have a CLUE as to his actual status. You refuse to believe the coach because you are painting HIM with the brush fashioned
by that butthole Cal. Really HATE all this vitriol aimed at our players based on history ( which he had nothing to do with) innuendo ( you have ZERO facts to back up any of this disparaging BS)

You guys keep getting hyped over all these mediocre players. Who cares if Kam Williams is back or not, the program's going to keep wallowing in mediocrity. They're going to beat Auburn and SC, get you morons on the FF train again, then lose the last 3, go 1-1 in the SECT, and bow out (most likely by double digits) in R32 or S16. This will happen with or without Kam Williams.

Pope knows that he has to come up with topics of discussion to deflect from the real questions that journalist should ask. So he keeps entertaining this idea about KW or JQ.

we all know that KW , Lowe andJQ are done playing for Kentucky this season.

this shows that Pope is just another sales person , just a bad one… at least Cal was better at selling his lies…

I don't really see him being a detriment. Even when he played he only played half of the game and the other bigs still got minutes. I would have more of a problem if he was pulling a Peterson and only playing when he wants to. He took himself out around halftime when playing BYU and his competition for the number 1 pick as BYU was making a comeback from down 20. I just wish they would say something along the lines of "the swelling kept coming back, we don't believe he'll be able to get healthy and be in shape to help the team" or SOMETHING. We know somethings up, don't treat us like we're stupid.

Offensively the only thing he can do is dunk from lobs & rebounds, defensively he gives us more, I'm like you though, "bye" have a good career in the NBA with that awesome offensive skill set of yours lol.

I suppose your narrative would be more widely accepted if JQ's dad hadn't come out and trashed Pope the exact same week they shut him down.

The timing said it all.

I would love to read a headline that started with “Mark Pope is realistic…”

“Mark Pope is optimistic…” is white noise.

JQ is complicated because he's not really hurt, and chose to sit because he's desperate to leave right this second. Getting Kam back would be a positive. Beautiful stroke from deep.
We really don't know for sure if JQ wants to play or not. It could be his camp controlling the kid. Maybe that's why Pope said it was "complicated." Unfortunately, this was a thing under Cal too. It seems like both coaches allow it.

IMO, a kid and a camp are the same thing. If these kids can't put the school first (they signed to play here), then everyone of them can GTFO. There are plenty of kids, perhaps less talented (JQ is not), that would run through a wall to be on the floor. If Pope is no different than Cal, then he can piss off, too.

I agree with this. These coaches have to stop letting these camps hold them hostage.

Sharpe could have played and UK would have went far n the 2022 tourney.

JQ can play and give us some depth and some good mins off bench if nothing else.

Yes, the big picture is terrible. We have been mired in mediocrity for more than half a decade, irrelevant in the college hoop’s landscape, and Pope isn’t changing that. The serious conversation would be: What can we as common fans do, if anything, to oust Mitch and then Pope?

His defense will be his biggest weaknesses.
He's not coming back 100% this year and his lateral quickness won't be the same.
That's not true at all about his defense they talk several times how his length had shut down several key players over various games. Honestly, I can't names or exact games, but it happens several times and his rebounding

If I was a coach and this happened. I would force him to get medically checked by the doctor. If the doctor said he can play and he refuses, I'd make him pay back NIL money until he's willing to play.

There was never a report of a re-injured knee. When did he supposedly reinjure it. Practice, getting out of bed, running to class as he was almost late. He had swelling in his knee, they told us he did and why he was sitting out initially. Swelling in his knee was to be expected. The only thing injured (broken rather) is his offensive game. He doesn’t have an NBA offensive game and the more he plays the more that will be revealed. NBA GM’s are stupid, someone will take him based on his athleticism and he will spend the next several years in the G league. If his ability to put the ball in the basket ever rolls around will eventually see him in the league. Could happen but I wouldn’t bet on it.
