Who should be the top teams this year?

West Wilkes (defending 2A champs) and East Wilkes should be at the top. Starmount should have a solid squad as well.

Yes WW & EW are the two teams to beat. WW returns a good amount of firepower this season. Its long overdue that we get 2 WW EW head to head matchups in a regular season. Possibly even 3 in the conference tourny! Starmount will def be dangerous on any given night at number 3. Get your popcorn ready! Gonna be a fun spring in the MVAC

I guess Allegheny had that run a few years ago and the talent has dried up now.

Alleghany had the luxury of an elite arm with a good catcher that had just a good enough defense behind her to get it done. Granted they didn't have to play much defense behind her. It dried up quick when those couple of kids left.

Plus 1A at that time helped also but yes it has just dried up in Sparta currently. Girls basketball has really struggled

1A then was more of a gauntlet than 2A will be this year. You had North Stokes, Robbinsville, and Chatham Central who are all 1A now and East Surry, Lincoln Charter, Pine Lake(who has fallen off bad), North Stanly, and Uwarrie who are all 3A or bigger now.
