I just realized it was Ash Wednesday yesterday. What do you give up for lent?

Gopher Men's Hockey? Oh it's supposed to be a sacrifice. Nevermind!

Seriously, thought about swear words as well, but didn't even make it a f-in hour. Trying to come up with something realistic.

I'm to attempt removing curse words from my vocabulary.

Last Sunday the Gambits gave up their fake Christmas tree per Gambit tree Rule 4.3, subsection B, line.27. "A Christmas tree must always come down before Lent". And so it did....barely.

Now on to the next Gambit tradition.....Pysanky.
The Gambits have been decorating Easter eggs in the old Slavic way for over 50 years.
Using a stylus called a kiska to apply melted beeswax, we meticulously draw symbols on raw, white chicken eggs, which are then dipped in increasingly darker dyes. The beeswax protects the artwork of the lighter dyes and you get this...

I’m giving up alcohol (St. Patrick’s celebration excepted)

Speaking of that, I misread Potter’s title at first as mentioning “Irish Wednesday” and I briefly envisioned a lent-like run-up to St. Patty’s Day.

Were that a thing, I’d think it would be about giving up teetotaling. Gotta build up a tolerance before the big day.
