Is Haddonfield still doing it? And typically who would be behind this - the coach, the administration or a group of boosters? Just curious as I don't follow hs sports anymore but did grow up there - a LOOOONG time ago.
Not sure about now but I heard there were some athletes who took advantage of this back in the 2000s and 2010s.

Saw this site that’s still up for the 25-26 school year so who knows.

No way parents are paying 15k > to go to Glassboro High School lol But what you see with a lot of schools that recruit (both public/private) are coaches/parents/etc tell these kids "if you come to [insert school here] we can get you a scholarship" or "there's no way you can get a college too come see you if you stay at home" which I find hilarious in the world of HUDL and social media. If you're good they'll find you, just very predatory like by these adults idk.

Either you can’t read or have bad comprehension or whatever TF in getting Haddonfield and Glassboro “confused.” The link you quoted is from Haddonfield BOE. Glassboro is a Choice School that allows students from other districts to attend Glassboro for free.

BTW since you brought this up. You got kids in Glassboro going to Alabama, Wisconsin, etc. Who from Pittman HS has made it to D1?

Yea I was a bit confused by the distinctions - I never went to public school and only coached one for a limited numbers of years. I'm still new to understanding the differences/logistics/classifications. Using this information, it states Glassboro High can only get 5 "new" choice students per year. Last year they had 10 transfers. Math isn't Mathing. Maybe I'm missing something, who knows. And I'm pretty sure any of those kids stayed/played at Pittman would have still earned a division 1 scholarship. If you're good enough to to play at the D1 level you'll get found.

Send the info, pics, and other proof to the state.
You’ll be a hero.
State has taken the position they do not care. So itd be a waste of time.

I blame the adults though. Weird grown men hitting up 12-17 year olds asking them to use a fake address and enroll in their school. Just odd behavior. Honestly, its an indictment of what they personally think of their own coaching ability if they dont believe they can win without loading up rosters and creating all star PUBLIC school teams. Just weird. I know you disagree but thats even weirder haha

And bama and wisconsin wouldnt find them if they went to pittman? Yeah bama and wisconsin were absolutely blown away with glassboro players performance vs a group 1 school playing with linebackers at corner LOL. It was glassboro that did it for the kids! LOL

It’s not even worth arguing. The position @tico brown takes is that public schools should be able to bring in any kid they want regardless of what town they live in.

His response is always, “youre just mad shabazz (or any school that does it) is good now”. No haha, we’re just mad that they are ruining public school football by treating teams like private schools and enrolling as many talented kids who’s parents can be convinced to send them their way.

and the most egregious offenders of this who have added the most transfers in the past couple years (shabazz and winslow) are two of the worst schools academically in NJ according to the state.

Pittman had seasons when they had 12, 14 players on their rosters. What college is going to watch a school in that circumstance. Or a hs with “LBs playing at Corner”?

Meanwhile Bama just got a Glassboro player to commit to there and may get another one.

Bama also have a Millville WR who will probably be their starter as a sophomore in 26. That’s another argument for another day though.

If a school district is a choice district who can get anyone who lives in the same city and/or same county then good for those coaches who can adapt and take advantage of those rules. Do be one of those coaches who refuse to take advantage if the rules permit it and complain about others who does it. Hell, there’s schools who are Choice schools that people wouldn’t complain about and tbh, I wouldn’t either. I just call out the hypocrisy of those complaining about today but not how others did the same thing back in the day or even today.

If you have proof that there’s blatant violations going on, go to the state or nj com or where ever else to show that A… B… C… and here’s the video or other proof. To ***** and moan about it online like bitching and moaning about how no one gives a damm about Thanksgiving Day Games in 2026 and not do officially anything about it is annoying.

To call out people who disagree with you is childish that is acceptable by those who run this place because they’re CE friends, long time Paywall member, or whatever.

I get what you're saying - not entirely disagreeing with you. I just find it odd that it's going on in the public sector, within the past few years I've heard kids tell us "Public school coach said they'll get us scholarships" or "Public school coach said I wont get a scholarship playing for my home town"...It's boarderline predatory-like in nature. Straight out lying to students-athletes for what...the benefit of oneself? I don't know, something does need to happen with whats going on with these public schools. Also not a fan of the privates reaching out to public school kids doing the same thing, saying "transfer to get a scholarship" blah blah blah.

What most of these complaints are about how schools in cities with multiple schools are designated as choice schools, which means that a student in that city can ultimately choose to go to a school of his choice. Another rule to that is that if you go to a charter or magnet school that doesn’t have football, some cities allow you to go to any football school in the city while other cities only allow you to play for your home district.

Sometimes in that situation, a kid and his family may think that School A is a hell of a lot better in football or tbh in some cases, safer, than School B or even than my home school so I’m going there. It’s a shame on many levels but that’s NJ HS Football 2026. Nothing “predatory” or whatever.l in most cases.

There’s some choice schools that allows students from the same county whether it’s “choice,” “tuition,” “Jr ROTC school,” whatever. There’s some County Tech schools that have the same county student rules.

Now if you have proof of illegal activities going on, send the info to nj com, APP, Courier Post, or the millions of online social media wannabes, influencers, commenters with this exclusive breaking news and they’d run those stories to death until something is done one way or another.

What about if winslow is taking in kids from all over not being choice?

What if shabazz is taking in non-newark kids?

what should the repercussions be in YOUR opinion?

Immaculata reached out to our kid right after he announced his school decision on Wednesday. Two years ago, someone from Somerville wanted to set up a visit to their high school when he was in 6th grade.
Seems like Immaculata is going to enter the dirty game of HS Parochial Football Recruiting lol Miss the days when you went to these schools for the education and to play football. Rarely turns out well unless you have $$$ to spend which Lata seems to have.

Well, they do now with Vanderbeek in the fold.

It is my understanding (though I could be mistaken) that DePaul wanted little to do with this, but once they were forced into that division, they jumped in rather than be plowed under and humiliated every Friday night. But it's a different thing altogether from when I was there a thousand years ago.

In order for these schools to stay afloat they need to be charging admission. Mater Die, with all their success, wasn't/didn't charg(ing) student-athletes which factored into their closure. STA tried going the same route but from what I heard they have huge $$$ as well as issues with those students (football players) behavior in school (I heard the former coaches are banned from the campus). Immaculate closed all together, had a two decent years with a bunch of division 1 kids. I'm sure Depaul makes their money and is building a donor base.

STA made a run and it all blew up lol, there was real divide with the basketball and football team vs faculty ,to put it very mildly
Jerry Smith (their old A.D. now Hudson Catholic's A.D.) is a real piece of work. Ran out of St. Joes Metuchen and STA; hired a real P.O.S. soccer coach that got busted for Child p***. I'm amazed that guy (J. Smith) is still finding/landing jobs.

Yea played basketball with his son. Know the family for 30+ years. Was something special when he a was a baseball coach at JFK and hasn’t improved with each promotion. Leaves a mess wherever he’s been.

In regards to Hudson Catholic...I'm sure the program will be better but you wonder given Smith's history and the way he operates if Hudson Catholic will remain open in the coming years. These schools need to charge tuition; from my understanding H.C. barely stays afloat.

Went to catholic school all my life. My high school closed many years ago. Elementary has a waiting list and busting at the seems. How many of the inner city and tertiary suburban schools stay afloat is amazing to me. If they stay open it won’t be because of Jerry that’s for sure.

I lived in J.C. for a bit - the private and catholic elementary/middle schools do extremely well. It's when it's time to get to High School those people look elsewhere (outside of J.C.).

As a resident of a nearby Group 1 school district, I'm happy to hear Glassboro is being forced to move up to Group 2. They have been absolutely rolling Group 1 for years now. It was pretty obvious something shady was going on there. This thread is confirming my assumptions. We've had some really good teams the past few years, but it's all hollow, because Glassboro looms in the playoffs and they have been unbeatable.

Looks like they’re going balls deep for 2026 with the coaching staff they hired within the past 2-3 weeks. Some legit coaches there who should get the kids to turn that program around. They still got facility issues compared to SPP but their future looks a hell of a lot better than last year with the old staff.

Problem is shabazz and HC are in recruiting battles for the jersey city, newark, orange, east orange, hillside, belleville, irvington kids. Shabazz winning those more of those battles despite being a public school whos only supposed to have newark kids

To be fair, the staff at Hudson last year couldn’t recruit homeless people to free houses if they could. Esp after the starting QB and SS that McKnight had the year before, transferring the hell out after seeing that they would be better off elsewhere. And after watching how prepared that team was, I don’t blame them for leaving.

Don’t know the backstories to their new staff. Sounds like I don’t want to. But they bringing more experience and success from elsewhere. And I’m sure they’ll bring in a kid or two who will start and do well.

There's enough talent to go around - HC will undoubtedly be better. I think their ceiling is similar to SJV - should be able to win a playoff game but get beat up by the big boys in NPB (RBC/DePaul/PC).

Quote of the day lol Thanks for the laugh. I'm rooting for them, T.H. seems like a good dude and does a lot for the student athletes. I'm sure he learned a better approach and will be more hands w/ the kids so another STA doesn't happen. Issue I could see with Hudson Catholic is they're in the bottom end of facilities and the school is worse off financially than STA. Jerry Smith will do Jerry Smith things and bring in whomever regardless of if the student-athletes can afford private school or behavior issues etc etc, didn't work at St. Joes or STA...and HC needs all the tuition they can get lol I really wanted to see that week 0 game with Hudson vs STA but STA backed out smh.

One of Winslow's promising freshman (saw time on varsity) announced he's transferring to Camden. Perhaps his parents found a nice waterfront property to live in/reside or a place with better value than Winslow Township.
