I will preface this by saying that as a fan I have essentially checked out of R Hoops mentally and have not been locked in watching these guys.

The past couple years and early part of this season took the wind out of my sail, sue me.

With that said, I watched a little of the Maryland game and the little I’ve seen in this game. There’s much more off ball movement and motion happening in this game than I’ve seen in quite a while.

Don’t care how the game ends, don’t care what the team shoots % wise. Kudos to the staff, this is a positive improvement.

Even I struggled to care by the end of December.

There is some promise if Pike can keep some of these guys for next year and add a solid 4 and 5
It’s an interesting discussion. I definitely think we need a big time 5, without that there’s nothing.

Financially what does this all look like? 9 million to spend, if you’re looking to take this roster + a portal big into next season, I sincerely hope we have a chunk of money being banked.

I do think success will require more of a motion offense though, whether that’s with B Knight running it or not is irrelevant to me. Must get away from the iso nonsense.

Be happy, we lead wire-to-wire tonight and won.
I see confidence building with the first-year players on offense and roles developing.
The defense seems consistent and improving over the last several games.

I think this is a core that needs 3 years to develop and mold in pikes system. And that probably just gets this group to a solid middle tier conference / bubble team Status. Which isn’t nothing given program history. But That won’t happen in this day and age.

This team is maturing and gaining confidence. Coaching is showing. Let’s win a few more before tournament. Really excited to follow their development. Keep today’s starters, dump the deadwood and add a big. Winning season next year.
