The movie is a depiction of his own personal struggles and not a “rock star” bio. To suggest that Springsteen was “born on 3rd base” or can’t identify in some way with the alienated, dispossessed or marginalized is laughable. His fortune was made through his craft of music and storytelling, not hurting people. His songs that lambast corrupt and unchecked authoritative power are courageous and illuminating. Springsteen’s music helps more people and brings more understanding than any politician could hope to.
The major problem many fans have, however, is his is a one way street. Never once has he criticized or uttered a negative word about the other party. The truth is there an awful lot to criticize about both parties.
Ironically, depending on who and what people want to believe some of what is going on right now is trying to put the genie back in to bottle that was smashed open from 2020-2024. That led to harming many of the common working men that Bruce so eloquently wrote songs about. So, looking at it another way, allowing so many people across the border, many of whom have criminal records or who have committed crimes while in the US has hurt a lot of US citizens.
Funny how we never heard a peep from St. Bruce when Laikin Riley, Jocelyn Nungaray, Rachel Morin, or Kate Steinle were killed by people who should have never been allowed in the country. And while it was tragic the way two people who died in Minneapolis were killed, why did Bruce feel the need to jump in the fray while he remained silent during the other killings? That's a rhetorical question.
None of this is political to me. It's a sad statement on the state of affairs and how our politicians will not work together to find common ground and solutions, but instead play games a bloodsport to win points for their own side.
