I got to work out with Bill Goldberg. I ran into Jerry Clower at airport. I sat next to Rand Paul a flight. I also got to sit next to Mrs. Oklahoma 1988 on a flight. I also sat next to Erin Andrews. She had long fingers.

John Goodman in New Orleans at 6am before our parade began on Mardi Gras Day. He was sitting in the float with Pete Fountain and the governor gave him the key to the city later that morning. We drank “light” screwdrivers for about an hour chatting while people kept walking up for autographs. Orange juice tears my stomach up and I can only have a small amount of it. Of course I really like it. So, I had the bartender make a vodka and sprite and top it off with orange juice. Goodman thought that sounded tasty and ordered a couple rounds for us and one of my buddies.
Goodman is someone I would love to meet. Seems like a cool dude.

Met John Legend at Louisiana state capitol. He was waiting to give a speech and I went with my pastor because he was opening with prayer. Cool humble guy. Would have talked with me more if he didn’t have to get on stage.

I played JUCO ball with Big Play Slay!

Not gonna count our famous Baseball guys because I've met most of them.

Bill Murray owned the Utica Blue Sox and I met him and his brother, Brian Doyle from Caddyshack, when I played in the NY Penn league. Bill was very cool, Brian a bit of a dick.

Patrick Swayze at DFW and I talked to him a bit and this was right in the North and South time so he was trying to lay low. I asked if he would say hello to my wife and he told me to wait until we got on the plane. I went up to first class and he told the stewardess it was fine and I chatted with him and he had my wife come sit next to him and take a picture. Very nice guy.

Tom Dempsey about a year after he kicked the 63 yarder. Brent Musburger at Disney golf course. We were playing and he was by himself. He joined us for a few holes. Dave Wottle who was 1500M gold medalist in 1972. Magic Johnson and got to talk about 1980 NBA finals when he took over for an injured Jabber at center and beat my hometown 76ers.

And being in the same room or airplane with them doesn’t count. And no dopelgangers. At least a 2 minute convo and a handshake.
Mine is Jerry rice with Tiny Tim a close second:)
The Possum, George Jones. At Mary Mahoney's in January of 2011. Chatted about 15 minutes at the top of the stairs. Very casual conversation. Very down to earth and approachable. They flew down to gamble and eat. He was very short and made us stand on a lower step to take pictures, to make him look taller in the pictures.

Met in their offices, conferences, played golf with, shot the shite, and had dinner and lunches with plenty of political elite. National and state level. All of Mississippi's DC crew, and a lot of famous ones from other states.

Met and hung out backstage before and after the show with Whitesnake and Great White in '87, when they came to Jackson. Watched the Great White show from the stage right steps in guitar world. Watched the Whitesnake show from the front of house mixer and light board stage. Roommate was good friends with Tommy Aldridge's sister. She got us backstage passes. Tommy grew up in Pearl

Met Adam Schefter while standing in line for the monorail outside of Magic Kingdom. I had my family with me, he was going to meet up with his so was solo at the moment. Had a maybe 5 minute chat about that year's rookie class (it was in May, right after the draft) and he told me there were actually a lot of NFL players at WDW at that time, and that's how he got a lot of his info, he'd take the family to Animal Kingdom and "bump into" some players that he knew would be there. Pretty good dude, very gracious to give me time. Dude is also SHORT...google says 5'8" but if he's 5'6" I'd say he had lifts on.

Famous for me - Daniel Kahneman
Was at a conference and met up with an old advisor who was buddies with Kahneman and we three ended up sitting around talking shop over drinks for an hour or so. Super nice guy and very gracious in his willingness to discuss the work I do. He's the guy who wrote Thinking Fast and Slow, and won the Nobel prize in Econ in the 80s, as a psychologist, which was quite the feat.

Sat on Southwest flight next to Luke Bryan way back when he had just started taking off in country music.

Mike Rowe - very cool guy in real life

Don’t know if I’d call him “famous” but Matt Rolloff from Little People Big World. He’s a dick.

Kirk and Chris Fowler at the Little Dooey in 02 I think. Got our picture taken with them.

Probably Mike Leach. Spent close to an hour sitting in an outfield lounge talking one night one on one over beers at a midweek baseball game. Crowd was very sparse and we just sat, drank, and talked. Really cool guy.

I'd have been disappointed if Mike Rowe was a dick. He just seems like he'd be exactly the same in life as he is in his public face.

Charlie Daniels, Eric Dampier, Roger Wicker. If local weathermen count I’ve met Matt Lauhban, John Delusic, and Woody Asaf. Probably misspelled all of their last names since they are so famous😂.

Chuck Knoblauch told me I should quit smoking as he ran out of the field house towards the dugout in the Grapefruit League. I told him to learn how to throw to first.

I have since quit. Not sure if he quit the yips, though.

I had a few too many on Thirsty Thursday at a minor league game where Cal Ripken was in town. I decided to not got after the big fish, and snuck under a rope to ask his brother Billy to sign a card (no, not the infamous one).

"I'd love to, but I can't sign that."
"Why not, man?"
"Because, I'm not Billy Ripken."
"Awe man. I'm sorry."
He laughed and told me to enjoy the rest of the game.

To this day, I have no idea who I bothered from Ripken's entourage that night. I'd like to think he occasionally remembers the drunk man who asked for his autograph.

Neither one of these fit into the parameters, but I thought they were humorous enough to share.

Jackie Sherrill for a five minute conversation in the Starkville Subway on Hwy. 12 back in '94. Love that guy.

Not that famous unless you were a WCCW rasslin' fan, but I haggled with then car salesman Brian Adias over a used car for my son.

I sat across from Jerry Clower one evening when he dropped by the Pike house at dinner time. Very personable, funny, and pleasant.
I met Jerry in 1981 at Ole Miss. He pulled me aside and asked what I was going to do for my senior season. I think I was about to get an incentive to stay but I told him if I get drafted high I would probably sign. He shook my hand and thanked me and wished me luck. Very nice gentleman.

At the time I actually had no idea who he was. He was not real famous in New York.

Smoked a J with WIllie Nelson three times (Austin Opry House (TX World Chili Cookoff 1977, Perdnales Golf Course (July Picnic-1980?) and Holiday Inn parking lot in Hattiesburg 1981?). I still get high but not with Willie. Our politics don't align.
Cool story from MSU daze - Mohammed Ali was speaking at a dinner in Student Union 1979. I wasn't going to pay $15 but I waited in Union lobby along with forty others before the event. He came down the steps from second floor with his entourage to bring a female guest upstairs. The lobby was loud with chatter but could hear a pin drop when he entered the lobby.
My mom's cousin in south La. was close friends with Gerald Ford and Johnny Cash though I never met either one.

Impressive. Lots of celebrities on here, but you are the person to hang with a king.
