They are also arguing he is being fired for cause by "ridiculing" the university so they don't have to pay him an $18 million buyout. That's a VERY weak argument, so this will go to court for a while.

2018 KSU team was coached by Bruce Weber I believe.
Yeah he is gonna win that, he called the players out for not respecting the university. What a joke. Just shows you can’t tell the truth these days. They are more afraid of players leaving off a crap team than they are about backing their coach. To be fair he has sucked but he did get them some tourney wins and it’s not like they are some powerhouse.

Look, I'm all for being tactful and not going out of your way to be a **** but If that's "cause", then we're in a really bad era of "words hurty my feelwings".
It's not like he called them slurs, or even bad words. He just said, "They're embarrassing" and didn't deserve their jerseys. Oh my gosh! How offensive!

I'm all for writing performance in contracts for coaches. But don't use a ******** reason to then fire the guy because YOU wrote a bad contract.
Heck, if this flies Cal should've been fired over Little House comments. Stoops should've been fired for having players at the damn concessions stand DURING A GAME.

Funny how they can fire him for cause, but Mitch doesn't even have the balls to try to fire a coach for cause who put us on probation and had the whole season wiped away. Worst AD ever.
Personally, I think this will be settled out of court and both sides will get something out of it. I never thought Tang was much of a coach even after he beat us in 2023. He just happened to have Markquis Nowell who torched us for 27 points. He had a pretty good team that year but he was also a "one hit wonder."
KSU is about to lose a lawsuit. It has attempted to confuse bringing "public disrepute, embarrassment, ridicule" to the university with being paid a lot to lose all your games. While fans may feel embarrassed and subject to legitimate ridicule, loser “dudes” comments won’t fill that contractual bill. If I was a hot coaching candidate for that job, this overreach by the university would really turn me off. If they were fighting for the Big 12 title and ranked and their coach said the same thing after an embarrassing loss, NO ONE would expect the coach to be fired. So, KSU trying to push this narrative is really what is embarrassing.
Just imagine what he could do with 22 million? NCAA tourney? Round of 32?
Irregardless, he would get some dudes.
It’s worse than words hurty my feelings, it’s the ability to can someone just for doing media obligations when he did nothing wrong other than point out his team didn’t play for anything other than a paycheck and individual stats.
Yeah I’d love to keep getting hired to million dollar deals for sucking. I could coach a losing team tomorrow on the cheap. Hell I would delegate the jobs to good coaches and sit back and earn a check.
