Hawthorne maybe. Potter already has two years experience at the college level and was averaging 6 points and 3 rebounds in the MAC. If we’re counting him as one of our top recruits for next year, then we’re already in big trouble.I’ve been saying over and over that he’s got to be counted as a 2026 top UK recruit. As is Reece Potter.
Potter is a guy who could give us a good emergency backup as a redshirt senior. Hawthorne should be a big priority.Hawthorne maybe. Seems odd you'd be on the road and not have the whole team basically operating as a unit on gameday. I can see guys coming at different times for home games.I was at the game and Hawthorne was the only player out shooting, other than Jasper 45 minutes before the game. The others started tricking in around 20-25 minutes. They were very lethargic. Florida on the other hand had all hands on deck around 45 minutes before. They had good energy.
I'm curious what the staff envisions for Potter, if he's basically a practice body or they think he could be a real player on a good team. Maybe he turns into our version of Jeff Withey by his senior year...Potter is a guy who could give us a good emergency backup as a redshirt senior. Hawthorne should be a big priority.
Well, he's a seven footer that can shoot so I'm sure he could be a rotation player for just about anybody if he puts on some more muscle and works on his post skills.I'm curious what the staff envisions for Potter, if he's basically a practice body or they think he could be a real player on a good team. Noah has hit 38.5% of his three's. That's not bad at all.Trent Noah lit it up all summer long
I would put Moreno and Chandler in that top bracket as well, pay Moreno enough to get him to come back and potentially be a lottery pick the next season if he improves next season as much as he has this year.I’ve been saying over and over that he’s got to be counted as a 2026 top UK recruit. As is Reece Potter.
I played with guys who just shooting around could murder you in a game of horse, but if a real time game barely shot 25%."Watching BH shoot treys in pregame warmups here at Exactech Arena and he is filling it up.....He's only missed once in the last 5 minutes"

The kid agreed to it. Gracious. If Hawthorne even sniffs the portal, Pope should be fired immediately. A red shirt in the NIL era is asinine.
Bingo. It's no coincidence that we're down by 12-15 points in the 1H of almost every P4 game, it seems. The team is a reflection of the coach and we know Pope is laid back and has made statements that he collects data in the 1H then makes adjustments in the 2H. Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. That's not gonna cut it here. More times than not, you will lose to the superior team if you're down by that many points. The players reflect the energy of their coach. Pope is generally laid back. Presents himself as calm and a thinker. Golden is a very good motivator. That’s why we lost yesterday.
It actually now makes MORE sense in the NIL era …at least for players who aren’t on NBA draft boards. That’s another year to earn money, and his NIL value will presumably be much higher in that extra fifth year ….since he’ll be experienced …than it is now.Why would he redshirt this year, in this day and age, makes no sense whatsoever
Exactly. I can't figure out why so many people don't get it yet. Maybe if it was their pay check they'd get it. This is why I said Noah should consider a redshirt next year...a guy like him, with no pro potential, could make huge NIL their senior year. But only if they are good rotation players their junior year; if they sit the bench their junior year then they will get no significant pay rise for their senior year.It actually now makes MORE sense in the NIL era …at least for players who aren’t on NBA draft boards. That’s another year to earn money, and his NIL value will presumably be much higher in that extra fifth year ….since he’ll be experienced …than it is now.
That’s why we’re suddenly seeing all these players trying to stay in school for six or seven years.
In this era we should be able to match any offer he gets but that's not in the deal now by contract. We can match it or walk away.If Hawthorne even sniffs the portal, Pope should be fired immediately. A red shirt in the NIL era is asinine.
That’s bs.The players reflect the energy of their coach. Pope is generally laid back. Presents himself as calm and a thinker. Golden is a very good motivator. That’s why we lost yesterday.
I don't think so. He just can't get open. Opponents know why he is in the game (3's), and he doesn't have the quickness to get himself open or create space. But when he's open, he does take them.He plays scared and will not shoot (generally)unless there is no one around to pass it to. Needs to get some confidence
Nobody is counting on Potter as a "top recruit". But could he contribute? Sure. He has some skills, but his big think is he needs to add A LOT of strength. I don't think anyone even expects him to ever be the 2nd string C, but if he could be an "ok" 3rd string C in case of foul trouble, that would be a win.Hawthorne maybe. Potter already has two years experience at the college level and was averaging 6 points and 3 rebounds in the MAC. If we’re counting him as one of our top recruits for next year, then we’re already in big trouble.
Obviously not “nobody.” Because @theKybluedude literally just said in an above post that we’ve got to count Reece Potter as a “top recruit” alongside Hawthorne. His exact words.Nobody is counting on Potter as a "top recruit".
Have you followed the head coach? Pope does several things no other coach does anymore, and none of it works. Why would he redshirt this year, in this day and age, makes no sense whatsoever
If he can shoot, probably work on his passing, that way he brings the opposing center out on the floor to guard him, opening up the lane for cutters. My guess.Well, he's a seven footer that can shoot so I'm sure he could be a rotation player for just about anybody if he puts on some more muscle and works on his post skills.
He was recruited to appease the “Kentucky Boy” portion of the fan base that is more into the nostalgia aspect of the sport versus the competitive side of the sport. I’d argue in part that Noah and Perry kinda fit along those same lines.I'm curious what the staff envisions for Potter, if he's basically a practice body or they think he could be a real player on a good team. Maybe he turns into our version of Jeff Withey by his senior year...
