BASKETBALL Game thread for Northwestern vs. Nebraska

It's gonna be the same starting five for the Cats in their Valentine's Day matinee at Nebraska.

Northwestern has lost four in a row, but the Huskers have dropped three of four themselves -- albeit all to Top 15 teams. Nebraska whipped NU pretty good in Evanston to claim a 77-58 win. We'll see if the Cats have made any progress over the last month and can give them more of a game in Lincoln

The hesitancy to take the open three, while justified, is killing us. No matter how bad it gets, we have to keep shooting.

Not sure how we can make more poor decisions and shots than in that last stretch to lose our 8 point lead.

Similar good fast start like we had against Mich only to see the lead fade away even sooner. We did get some early turnovers but Nebby taking advantage of our flaccid offense.

It's still somewhat surprising that Nick has had a run of three or four games in a row where he cant shoot. I know people say it's maybe from being tired but again he is in his early twenties and there is rest between games it just seems surprising that he's so inefficient shooting recently.

Yeah, it’s definitely because he got tired from 6 extra minutes in November and not because every defense is just crashing on him to an insane degree and letting everybody else go ahead and take shots. That Baz logic!

This is a pathetic offensive showing for a team that is supposed to be a little better at offense than defense. To be expected when Martinelli is bad, nobody else is much of an offensive player, definitely not an offensive leader.

Who cares? Wins and losses mean zero now. It’s about Kropp, Singleton, West and Gelo getting better, Today that didn’t work out so well.

In his postgame interview with Eanet, Collins blamed the teams toughness for another 2nd half collapse. He said when teams turn up the volume on them in the 2nd half they just haven’t responded. He took the blame for it.

I’m sure that’s a part of it but this team simply doesn’t shoot well enough to be a 40 minute threat against good teams. And of course the youth.

Sandfort played 36 minutes. Hasn’t played <35 minutes in last 5 games. It’s not the answer you think it is.

Look, this team is not equipped to win against these teams. Plain and simple. Blame who you want, Coach, Players, both. If we win great, but at this stage that doesn’t mean as much to me as seeing improved play from the players that will have core minutes next year.

Agreed we are just not good. We dont deserve to win. Just a tough pill to swallow. I think we have gotten out rebounded in every game this year and by a wide margin.
