Huskers have defended Martinelli really well today. As usual, the defensive scheme was solid. But man, NU needs to break out of this flat-footed offensive funk early in games.

Lucky we played Northwestern today. Not our best game by some key people. Jacobson and Sandfort did have a decent game.

Hard time understanding how PSU is so bad at basketball. Don't think they've ever been good since we joined.

We decided we wanted to get switches and then throw it in to mast in the post on the mismatch. Unfortunately, Mast was terrible. And we aren't very good at throwing entry passes.

They have pretty much done that all season. Underperform offensively the first half and pull away in the 2nd.

Not going to change….been that way multiple times this year. Unfortunately teams usually carry traits the whole season.

I think part of it is other teams have started to figure us out. Lots of film out there now. Our lack of athleticism limits how much we can just overwhelm supposed inferior teams. And I think Mast is starting to wear down (even before the illness). He doesn’t have the body type to handle banging against a true 5 for months on end.

on a side note: did I see Curtis is now on the injury list? Anybody know what the issue is? Is that why he didn’t play against Purdue and their frontline?

Yep. I’ll add seems that the starting 5 are all trying to grind thru it. Tired legs = turnovers, missed open 3’s , not getting to their spot both offensively and defensively. Mast needs to flush this performance and start putting out solid performances in back to back games.

Mast can’t maintain is footing and played today with butterfingers. The whole team threw not just bad but extremely terrible passes and most of the time it wasn’t because of Wildcat pressure. They can’t go to Iowa City and play this way and expect to win. I think we need Garcia to step up his game. We need another big.

Wierd game for Mast: 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 points, 6 TO's.
Seems like he would get into trouble when he tried to dribble down low.

Very sloppy 1st half, bad passes and had a lid on the basket seemed like nobody wanted to take a shot thought some shots where passed up.

Knew they would take control in the second half but coving the spread looked iffy in the 1st half.

I’m in Cancun and was very happy they got the game on for me.

Need to make sure they can hat the Herky game on Tuesday night. Unfortunately it’s a hour later here in Cancun

Like it or not, this is the world we live in. I don’t believe for a second that posts like these are random but more of a calculated step by his advisors to get it out there that he is willing to listen to offers. Blue bloods and the T Techs of the world have lots of resources.

Yes, our offense is predicated on pace without ball handing. We don't have even a decent ball handler(nba level) or anybody who can create or provide the time to let a play develop. We rely heavily on quick passing once the dribble hand off is executed. Teams can start to play the passing lanes because we are a rhythm offense, especially teams playing us for the 2nd time, with 25 games on film, and who are now giving us their best effort. We are still dangerous because we have good three point shooters but beating good teams is going to come down to the luck of make or miss from 3. Our easy layups and high % shooting at the rim is coming to an end as teams are just playing those lanes. Much like the NBA, the college game comes down to hitting 3s, and hoping the other team misses theirs.

Our problem also is that we really don’t have any bigs and we’re not that athletic. Reink and Berke are our two guys with size that play regularly, but I wouldn’t consider either one of them physical guys. Reink, maybe. But he plays the perimeter so much. We’re a smart team that plays with movement with the ball with good shooters. If we’re not shooting well we’re screwed.
