dont forget the zero assists. Not trying to pile on, but there's not enough offense on this team to allow for one player getting 34 minutes w zero offensive production. With CC, sure you could have KF type players out there.

She's also not running a popularity contest or a girls camp for those 14 young ladies either.....You have to realize and I assume that she does as well, that she took over a program at the Pinnacle of their success as a program. She'll be judged on her ability to stay there or which direction it goes from there, up or down. That may not seem fair, but that is how expectations work. She knows that...
Missing from the above discussion has been the evaluation of Minnesota. They simply have more talent than Iowa. Ava, Hannah, and CC can match up with them favorably but that's it. Their 2&3 guards are much better and really made the difference in the game. They can all shoot the 3, have excellent mid-range games, and can all take it to the rim with straight line drives. Iowa's 2&3 guards can do none of these things and consequently have difficulty scoring. You just can't have starters playing 30+ minutes and not scoring a single point. This team could really use Emily Rodriguez about now. Does anyone know her current status?
I think it is fair to think not staying at the level it was the 3-4 years before she took over would still be acceptable as long she didn't fall too far, but if I had to guess I think the program is going to regress to pre-MG levels, which will not sit well with the fan base. Adding UCLA and USC makes things a LOT harder conference-wise, and while it may help with West Coast recruiting, I don't see it making a sizable impact there.
Adding MW was a big step, but with her as the only recruit, she'll need some solid success in the portal for a couple of backcourt players.
For right now I'd agree. I still think Deal will be very solid in the next year or so. We still need some help in the portal in the backcourt though for next year.

We have had tickets for years and i watch pre game shoot arounds.. they shot a ton of 3s and were making them.

I have no idea what the program will look like over the years ahead. I think the program is ok looking forward, but, and a big but, Jan needs to add a couple players in the portal, and add 2 or 3 more good players in 2027. If that happens I think they will have pretty good success. I have never felt like Iowa would have an opportunity to win a national championship, but they were there. As everyone knows, getting to the Final Four is extremely difficult. Just look at the many good programs that never get there. I hope they get there again and Elite 8, Sweet 16 more likely, but no given for sure.

At this point in the season, Jan should have these players playing their best basketball. Sure, there will always be minor details to clean up, but what we’re seeing aren’t small fixes. Lapses in defensive intensity, careless turnovers that have become habitual, no reliable go-to scorer, and extended offensive droughts are systemic issues. Those aren’t end-of-season tweaks. Those are fundamentals that should already be locked in by now. Predicting it now, bounced in the 2nd round of the tourney - that’s max.
Ava is a reliable; go to scorer, as long as she stays out of foul trouble. Hannah is generally good for 10-14 and 9 boards. The issue is other then CCW no one on the perimeter has put together consistent play. I still think Deal is the best option going forward, but she has to prove it at this point.

Stremlow wasn't great vs Minnesota, but she's been the second best perimeter player and has the second highest EFG% in conference play at almost 60%.
Maybe Addison Bjorn should reconsider and head to Iowa City...
