I love that the people that are caught up in the "bad lyrics" are also the same ones that constantly call everyone else names...Retard, *******, ******, Libtard, ********, homo...

Classic stuff as always.

Also, who cares about the lyrics? Don't you tard ******* ****** libtards shitheads remember the old Satanic Panic back when metal came out and how every song was allegedly bad and evil?

Let me guess, you were all listening to Christian Rock?

It is more about hypocrisy of each side. One mentioning the lyrics from Kid Rock from 20 years ago and it being countered by myself showing the lyrics "sung" by Bad Bunny at the Super Bowl.

I agree with that.

Anyone that cares about the lyrics is a nut.

I used to listen to Slayer and Suicidal Tendencies and I am totally fine.

When you're a parent then you start to care a lot more. But it's easy to do what we did and change the channel.

It's only annoying as a parent when you dont know a show is going to say/do something inappropriate and they hear/see it.

Ha! Like when you watch an old 80's movie that was PG but clearly today would be PG-13 or even R...

That always makes for a fun moment.

10000%

Ever watch Casper? Kid friendly ghost movie all the way through until the very end when they say the word b*tch, twice.

Not terrible, but at the same time, as a parent you're like, "where the heck did that come from and why?"

This thread really does show everything wrong with the US right now.

In the aftermath of the Super Bowl, there is a bunch of grown men on a message board arguing about who watched the halftime show, and who had bigger numbers. And yes, I participated in it a bit. So, I’m at fault, too.

But if you can’t see how stupid this is then you are 100% part of the problem.

This culture war ******** is so dumb. It solves nothing, and it makes it so that you can’t watch anything anymore without it being political.

I know most of you on here are boomers or close to it, but some of you need to grow up.

That’s all I’ll say before the inevitable thread lock.

How about when you tell your wife the kids need to watch more 80' and 90's movies. You find a PG 80's movie, and then spend the entire movie trying to remember if there are any boobs, because if there are, your wife ain't gonna be happy.

performative outrage.

which is unfortunate, because the reaction will be used by leftists to paint conservatives as fragile, and they'll be correct.
And Kid Rock isnt being performative?

Do we really believe that Kid Rock of all people should be the type of individual that is left to lead faith based performances?

I am not Christian, but I respect the hell out of many of them. They deserve better representation than Kid Rock.

Look I can't convince you to spot a grifter. And maybe I'm being too critical. Maybe he has changed. But Im going to need to see more from a man who used to say a lot of...well, not Christian stuff, before I believe that hes doing anything beyond what a lot of people in Trumps orbit do - make money.

He's dun some questionable things, guarantee i've dun worse...and it ain't even close. Like him, most is in my rearview. Thankfully we don't have to be perfect. I love how open he is about his faith, his music on it is really great too. I'm glad performers like him aren't afraid to sing and talk about it :)

Christian music is not tamed nor has been? Its a huge industry that did like 2.5 billion in sales in 2025. I dont know of any Christian artists who have been afraid to spread their faith via their music? Even more mainstream acts like Flyleaf were given major air time and were quite popular even with non Christians.

Things I LOVE

All we ever hear about artists and athletes is "Just shut up about your faith and politics" but all of a sudden, it is cool.

Come on guys!

Also, I am guessing that Kid Rock is a pretty normal every day guy, like most of us. Drinks a bit, has fun, does some gambling, *****...

I know people will say "He is not a good christian" but he is probably just a regular dude.

Couldn't Kid Rock have just kept doing what he was doing and make a ton of money? I mean, does anybody know any hits of his after 2007?

Shoot, he had to play a song from 1999.

If anything, he changed his life and it cost him a crap-ton of money. Seems anything but a grifter.

I dont understand the rebrand either. Hey. Maybe I am wrong. Maybe Kid Rock has genuinely had a change of heart, found God - and Im being too harsh on him.

But its going to take more than a superbowl halftime show for me to be convinced the guy who's entire persona was alcohol and partying - not to mention questionable verses about underage women that even as a younger kid myself I recall thinking "thats a little messed up KR 🤔".

Maybe that isnt fair to him. And I'll own it if he proves to be genuine in his faith (no - he doesnt need to prove that to me. Im simply stating what it would take for me to be convinced) but I am highly suspect of anyone who suddenly becomes Christian...in a way that profits them financially.

And yes. Kid Rock already did very well for himself. But this rebrand is pushing him to publicity he hasn't seen in 2 decades. So I'm a bit skeptical. In the same way I am of mega church leaders who own PJs and mansions.

It isnt because I have something against Christians - its quite the opposite. I dont like when people take advantage of the generosity of Christians for their personal gain.

That was a long winded rant. I guess time will tell whether Im being too harsh a critic....

I get ya, but it's interesting you keep bringing up the underage girls song. Wasn't that way back 25 years ago? People can easily change, big time, over the course of 25 years. It's not like he wrote those lyrics recently.

Also, I'm not seeing where he was a huge partier a year or two ago and just now recently changed. All that partying seemed to be happening 15-20+ years ago, unless I missed something.

One follow-up question, what would he need to do to prove he's genuine in his faith and not a grifter?

Act like a Christian. Pretty straight forward. So long as he doesnt go on any long winded rants about hate, or kick off his own crypto and then rug pull it. It wont take much.

And lyrics from 20 years ago are absolutely relevant. Im not saying people cant change. But would you ever have uttered those words? It says something at least about the man he was. Which is relevant to the man he is - at least in regards to my suspicions.

How has he not acted like a Christian for the past 15 or so years?

Ha! I've said some pretty awful things from 20 years ago. Did some ****** things too. I was immature and partially lost as a young man. I feel I'm a pretty stand-up guy now along with being a good husband and father.

- Guy says some awful things in a song 25 years ago.
- Same guy has shown to not be a POS for the past 15-20 years.
- The guy's integrity is still being questioned.

Do you currently feel this way about Snoop Dogg too or when he performed in 2022? Tough crowd...

I dont have much to say on Snoop. Other than hes wishy washy. He sure went from out spoken critic of Trumps to performing for him rather quickly. And yes. That once again sets off my grifter radar.

FWIW I don't think Trump is a grifter. I think he uses people. But I also think he genuinely believes in what he believes in.

I agree that the lyrics, no matter when written, don't matter. It is a song. That is it.

People here post/type out way worst stuff every single day, multiple times per day. But they actually mean it, they are not getting paid for it They literally just want to call people "retard" and "*******" and "********" and rip on their Mom and call her a slut and ***** and things like that.

Perhaps THOSE people should be called out and not Kid Rock?

To me the issue isn't with writing the songs, I listen to songs with explicit lyrics all the time. But those songs are supposed to be marked with explicit lyrics notices so parents have the ability to control what their children are listening to. The Super Bowl broadcast is supposed to be regulated by the FCC. What El Conejito Malo was performing wasn't regulated or monitored, so the FCC and the network failed to do their jobs.

True...

But parents still had control. They could just turn it off.

I assume you mean the FCC.

Do recall since the Janet Jackson situation, this whole event has a delay to it and the network has the ability to dump the broadcast at any time.

This means that his use of expletives in Spanish were something the network was prepared for. They were likely confident the FCC wouldnt act, as it falls under the "contemporary community standards test" IE if the average household cant understand the foul language, its very hard for the FCC to argue the language was offensive to the general public.

That said I do think its hypocritical of the network to allow that vulgarity in another language. The language wouldnt offend me; but it is a double standard. Im just explaining why the FCC allowed it.
